Motor swap in progress...4.6L is OUT!!!

well here we go, we were up till 230 in the morning last night but we got the 4.6L and 4r70w out...going to finish getting the new motor and trans ready to go in, swap all the wiring and then the 5.4 is going in!

quick question, the fuel rails look identical...should I just keep the current ones that are already on the truck?

Haha Is your dad not home?? I noticed that you have your truck in the shop. And that is a sick toy in the background. Can't wait to get a ride in it.

it was actually really solid, I just wrapped all the extra strap around the hoist so it wasnt in the way. (and those straps are super nice and very strong!) the motor is ready to go in now, the 9.75 rear end is in the truck and its sitting on 37's in the back and looks MEAN! hoping to get the 5.4 in tonight maybe.

Yea, they look like 2" cargo straps. I can see the lock down on his choker toward the front. They are strong, I use them for strapping down a vehicle to large parts. One 2" is rated for like 1800 lbs. Whatever works ehh lol.

Just don't let dad catch yuh using his strap's like that, he may come uncorked

Looks good man. Been a long road to get where your at so far. That 5.4 should just drop right in without the tranny in. You throwing in new mounts?

How did you get that to come out at a level angle? I see you have the front core support still in...Man, I had to have mine at almost a 90 lol and it still rubbed. Maybe cause I left the A/C in.

well we pulled the waterpump to get rid of the fan and everything and then it came right out...I did kinda twist it sideways a little bit but ya we left the AC and stuff on it. We thought we were going to have to pull it at an angle like that but ended up trying it and were able to come straight out. pretty much everything but the bumper and permanant core support was removed. Unfortuneately the 5.4 is NOT going in tonight...we werent able to get the fan to come off and the water pump on the 5.4 looks even worse than the 4.6 which is a PIA by itself. At this point, the rear end is ready to rock, other than the fan the 5.4 is ready to go in, the trans is ready to go in, and then just a matter of all the wiring it all up and hopefully it will be a runner at some point tomorrow!

Well sounds like you got quite a ways still. Sucks about the fan though. Hope it comes off fairly easy tommorrow morning.

When you find a way to hold the pulley whether its with a fan puller set or not... Once you get the wrench on the fan nut, smack it with a hammer, works every time Just needs that bit of a whack to break it loose. I'm sure you already know that, but just in case.
