Yeah, all that work....ugh.

with the pressure readings I'm getting it's looking like rings more than the head gasket ring isn't it?

Could be, yea I don't think it's the gaskets at all. It's most likely the valves or seats. Carbon build up IMO.

How many miles?

The misfiring looks to be an ignition, fuel/reg or EGR problem. If the EGR hangs open, she'll miss like a biatch lol.

So if they are stuck, or somewhat stuck the exhaust can't leave causing it to miss. The RX I used, ticking went away, plus it's been warmer. I have 2 bottles of MMO, can I give that a shot to see if it clears up?

Or what should I do now?

If you don't mind spending 100 bucks to try something - go get a Motorvac or BG intake cleaning job. If the valves are carboned up this will help a LOT.

Thing is, when they're carbonized that bad, it takes time clean, IF that's even possible anymore lol. You higher numbers reveal allot of carbon on top the pistons/valves, but your valves are still sealing. Lower numbers indicate leaking, bad seat or "sticky valves".

A Motorvac Service and continuing with Auto RX treatments might save her. Make absolutely sure you have a Motorcraft PCV valve installed. That little part can make all the difference.

If you can't remedy the misfiring, your stuck, no matter what. Suck test the EGR valve. Pull the green line and connect a 1/8 3' section of hose to the EGR valve. While the engine is @ idle, suck on the hose like your drinking a milkshake. Your idle should deflect and the engine should almost stall. That's normal. If it doesn't, the valve is bad.

EGR valve is bad. Found a mechanic way out of town and it's got a leak there and he's saying I'm going to need a new throttle body too. Did a smoke test and both are leaking like crazy.

His prices are:
EGR:$215
TB:$305.54

Now I need to find them cheaper if possible.

Fill your info in, top right corner, like everyone does. I don't feel like going over this entire thread just to find out what engine you have. Or the year.

Well, if it's a 97-03 model, you don't need a throttle body unless it's broken. That just doesn't happen unless your porting it and screw up.

The body elbow "EGR ports" need to be cleaned. You don't replace them lol. The part "EGR valve" is only bad if the diaphragms blown or it's sticking open. The last time I purchased a valve, it was only $35 + gaskets, you might have $50 into it.

The 4six engines usually plug the ports. The 5fours, not so much.

I'm trying to figure out how to fill out that info.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-...Q5fAccessories

Mine is a 2000 5.4 V8

I found that which is brand new with a EGR valve.

TB is worn out according to the mechanic, the main ring is worn out. the steel shaft on alum body is worn out and with the hole where shaft goes through alum housing is worn out.

That's exactly what he said, he quoted me those prices and this TB will save me a ton of cash if that is in fact the case.

That's a 4six set up. The elbow won't work and the EGR valve is to small. The IAC is wrong as well. Yea that's not for you. The throttle body itself MIGHT fit, but I'm not sure. I can't recall if they're the same mm of hand. Some 4six's are not, like the Crown Vics. Not sure about the trucks bore. The other stuff I'm sure of tho.

Great deal, -if you had the same set up, BUT, you don't damnit lol.

Yea, it WILL fit, it just won't work lol. I would say you could make it work by re-routing a few things, but that won't fly either. The EGR valve is to small for the 5four.
