So turns out, I still have a problem. OK, here is a recap for everyone. Runs rough at idle, and rough at low RPM. Seems to run fine while cruising. coded lean condition bank 1, replaced o2 sensor. Then coded cam sensor bank 1. replaced. still rough. replaced spark plugs (needed it anyhow), replaced fuel filter (needed it anyhow), cleaned MAF sensor. I still have the same problem, running rough at idle and low rpm (up to about 1700). It is now throwing no codes, and gas mileage has plunged from 16ish to 13ish.
What make of plug did you use to replace the Autolites?

It was about a 17 hour job with help. It was BRUTAL. You will need a special puller for the power steering pump, a strap wrench for the fan, and standard tools otherwise.

Thanks for the update on man hours required. Was that 17 hours to do it one time, or total, because you had to go back in???? Again, all the updates are appreciated. I am leaning toward the $750 to someone else doing the job. I figure they are estimating about 10 hours labor.....

Talking

So I pulled the entire front off and replaced the timing chains, guides and tensioners. It had a bolt loose on the one guide, that allowed the chain to sag, but it had not jumped time! Got it all back together and it runs the exact same. It stalls at idle. It is worse the more it warms up. It has codes P0340 and P0011. All on bank 1. I am going back in and replacing the cam phaser as soon as it arrives. Wish I had just replaced them while the motor was apart but it was not making noise and I was convinced it was the timing. P.S. It was really not a hard job to tear down the front and get to the timing chains. It went pretty fast and as long as you have a puller for the harmonic balancer and the tool to assit you with removing the fan from the water pump it's a piece of cake. The worst part was removing the three power steering pump bolts from the block. Definetly worth doing myself to save the $$$ going to the dealer!!

Hey Bubba, Sounds like your truck is running exactly like mine now. So have you fixed it yet? Let me know if you find something before I open it back up and do the cam phaser.

Eddie - It runs great now! Yes, it was the timing. I did not replace any of the phasers, just the tensioners and guides. My total parts cost was less than $200 with gaskets. You say it wasn't bad...how many hours total? Did you have air tools, or just hand tools? All I had were hand tools. I would probably do it myself again if I had air tools.

WDBarnhill - that was 17 hours for one time around, although it did go a little faster the second time around. If I had to do over, I would fork over the $750...unless I had access to air tools.

Thanks for the insight. I do have air tools, but i amstill leaning toward paying a pro to do the job. I was even thinking about upgrading to the hot cams while in there....

One last update...It seems I had multiple problems. After the timing was fixed and I thought all was well, I noticed a rough idle, missing and stumbling from idle up to about 1700 RPM. Mechanic did diagnostics and told me that my throttle body was "out of range". I replaced the throttle position sensor, and it seemed to immprove just a tad. Today, I took the throttle body off and found lots of gunk caked up around the butterfly. Cleaned it really good with throttle body cleaner and a rag...three rags... it was really dirty. Put it all back together and presto! Idle jumped from 600 to 800, Idles smooth, smooth throughout the RPM Range, and seems to have much better throttle response than it has had in a year or two. I am in love with my truck again!
