my dealer is open today for those fellas who need oil changes and the likes so i took it in and got an appointment for tommorow, service advisor said its probably the tensioner pulley..i dont know squat about this stuff period so we'll see, and they said that most likely its covered since its still under warranty.

what i do know is all my gauges are fine, the dash says nothing wrong so far and the system says everything is ok including the electrical, my bass amp is only a 750 watt mono so i would not see how that could mess up the alternator-besides some bearing failure due to normal wear and tear on 23000 miles?? who knows.

It does sound like a roots charger lol. fine_style150, you can tell for yourself what it is. Well, -if it's the alternator or tensioner anyway. Just stethoscope it with something laying around in the garage real quick. A long screw driver would work or something solid, like a long thin piece of pipe or rod stock. Use that to probe, with the opposite end to your ear. When you find the culprit, you'll know it. You'll be surprised how good that works, - I bet you find it within 5 minutes or so. Check the idler pulley as well (by the tensioner).

EDIT DAMN! Labnerd already posted this or similar, I missed that post, my fault. -But yea, use whatever, it works well, if you can't wait until tomorrow that is.

Hell, I can't wait, - so go do it right now lol.

It's not coming from the speakers is it ?

I found the heat shield rubbing the front drive shaft yesterday. Something like that would have me searching all over where the sound was coming from.

I found this while reading ..... https://www.f150online.com/forums/su...end-whine.html

Post the answer

sounds more like PS to me then Alt, but ive been wrong before.

I know ford makes a synthetic fluid that you can drain and fill the PS system, should help, since the factory uses plain ATF as PS fluid

I was thinking speakers as well but it seems too loud for that. The tone is also off to be that. Sounds mechanical.

got the truck back i took it in myself and the problem was a pulley, the one located on the right bank if yah look at it from the front, sits to the side of the oil filter, reason i know is cuz its the cleanest pulley out of all the other ones. they did not giove me a receipt since it is under warranty apparantly theyre going to mail it in -___- anywho i think it was a tensioner pulley it juist sits there and theres really not much goin on with it its just strapped to the block- heck thats how much i know about engines

i can actually hear my stock exhaust again

- your not kidden lol.

Iduno, - neither does he, that's terrible. He should have just told us what the work order said. Oh well, -blows.

So it's either the idler, - or it was the pump after all. Oil filter ? That's right behind the pump, but if that was squealing, -seems like they should have replaced the pump. Iduno, -screw it.
