Why?

Did someone wash the engine bay, uhh, -real good!

I would start with the plugs, -Motorcraft. Jump on ebay and order 10 coils (2 spares) since their so cheap and the chances of getting a a bad coil out the box seems to be good.

At a 175k, the engine needs to be gone thru. O2 sensors, PCV system and whatnot. This one might be pretty pricey if you take it in.

Surprised it's running at all with the entire first bank (right bank, passenger side)on the blink.

It would help to know if plugs , fuel filter anything else has been changed. Throttle body cleaned? What maintenance?

Depending on how long it's been running bad, it's probably a better idea to trade it in on a different one. You'll need the plugs changed....if they can get them out without breaking, O2 sensors, fuel filter, complete PCV system, throttle body replaced, COPS, and most likely the CATS are bad now. If done at a dealer, the cost would probably be about what the truck is worth with yer mileage. Considering you've done next to no maintenance on it, I'd say ya got yer moneys worth out of it.

I'm not ready to take her out to pasture. I understand i'll get bent over if i take the truck to the dealer.. I'm pretty handy and i'm willing and want to do the work myself. Just need to be pointed in the right direction.. CEL came on about 2 days ago. I limped it home and parked it, about 20mi.. If the repairs are simple bolt ons ( plugs sensors filters ect ) I can tackle that.. I'll start with the plugs and fuel filter this weekend..

With that many codes, a good possibility is one of the main harness plugs going through the firewall. It could be loose or corroded. I would not throw parts at it till all electrical connections are carefully checked.

Sounds good. Yea, I would do the same. Do a good visual on things as you go. Like the wiring and such. Go from there. Coils O2's. Update your maintenance items first , unless you find another problem along the way. Cats = She won't run right if one is bad (passenger side in your case).

Before you throw a new set of plugs at it, it's a good idea to compression test it. You might be forced to pasteurize. That should give you an idea on your overall engine health anyway. Follow Fords procedure when doing so. Jump on ebay and purchase a Ford Service DVD. You'll want that, very handy.

Good Luck

Are you aware of the breakage problem witrh the plugs? Be sure to follow the TSB in removing them and have the Lisle tool handy. I would change the boots and the coils too.

That may be a record on a still running truck.

I would guess the same, if they all popped up at the same time. Not that you don't need a full tune up cause you do.

Well, Been working on it off and on the last 2 months... Thanks to glc i pulled the harnesses from the pcm. and notice the rubber gasket ( green ) was wedged in between the red outer plastic cover and the actual plug ( if that makes sense to u ) it seems the harness wasnt making good contact with the pcm.. I have no clue how that happend. Only took it to the stealership for oil changes.. Fixed that and ran codes and only came up Tps code. So with anyluck ( which i have none ) it was the harness

Figured might as well do general mantainace ( only been 175k ) got the plugs, fuel filter air filter and tps all motocraft. In the process of changing the plugs 5 out of the 8 broke. Pulled out 4 so far. On one of the plugs the bottom handle ( metal strap looking thingamajig ) broke off ( nice ).. It's gotta be sitting right below the plug hole. I'm gonna try to get it with a magnet, or suck it out with the shop vac. last resort hit it with compressed air. ( i plan on doing it to all the cylnds just to be safe ).. Any other ideas?
