Smile 2007 F-150 5.4L Using Oil

I have a 2007 F-150 Extended cab with only 14,000 miles on it and it is using about 1 qt for every 2,000 miles. I think it is getting worse since the last oil change had 3,000 miles on and it was down 3/4 qt. At 12,000 miles the dealer was changing oil and put a dye into it to detect external leaks and couldn't find any. Since the coolant level hasn't gone up, the oil must be leaving out the exhaust.

The dealer didn't check into anything further cause he said that Ford won't do anything if it is using 1 qt in 2,000 miles. Has anyone else run into this issue and has Ford done anything about it? I need to check my PCV valve, haven't done that yet.

Thanks!

Yea Ford won't do anything about it if your within their limits. You could have a defective PCV valve OR the a rubber component in the pcv system could be collapsed. If you replace the PCV valve , you need to get a Motorcraft valve. Other after market valves have the wrong margins - IE Fram (way to tight )

Where is the PCV valve?

Yeah, we need to check the PCV valve yet. I looked under the hood yesterday and, well, there is a lot of stuff in there. I need to get the books for the truck eventually. In the meantime, does anyone know where the PCV valve is located on a 2007 F-150 5.4L?

Pcv

ur pcv valve is on the left valve cover when ur lookin at the engine from the front of the truck it should have a hose that runs to ur intake manifold close to ur throttle body the other valve cover has a breather line that goes to ur intake tube

It's on the left side of the intake manifold. There is a hose running from this valve to the left side of the intake manifold. If you can't find it I can take some pictures for you tomorrow.

I have an '04 with the 5.4L and I lose about 1 1/2 to 2 quarts every 5,000 miles. No signs of it going anywhere

After using the information and pictures of the location of the pcv value I found my motor to be vary different. On the drivers side the breather comes out of the value cover to the intake and about one inch below that two wires go into the plastic intake manifold. I called the Ford man and it sounds like pcv is built into the intake manifold. He said if it was not working correctly I would get a check engine light. I have two pictures but I'm not sure how to put them into this post. What do you think of this design.

location of pcv

After looking at the drawing under the hood of pcv value one would not think it is built into the intake. Can someone help me out on this? Thanks

Are you running fully syn oil or what? I found my truck used oil with fully syn so I just switched to Motorcraft semi syn.

I'm trying to get these two pictures into this message. I uploaded them to a album. Not sure how to paste them into the message. When you click on insert image it is only looking for a address.
Here is the address where the two pictures are located. Need some help on this. Thanks

The picture ended up in the photo gallery. Where and how do you do a photobucket account?
As far as the kind of oil I'm using Ford has been doing that.
