As far as the kind of oil I'm using Ford has been doing that.
you can just copy the image code and paste it to a post. if you want to get a photobucket account just go to www.photobucket.com you dont need one but it does come in handy in some cases.

Correct, on the 3v 5.4s the PCV valve is on the left (drivers side) of the upper intake manifold. Has a line from the left valve cover going to it.
From recollection, there are two small screws that hold it in, and you will have to unplug a wire harness. These PCV valves are heated...

Has this type of pcv value been a problem? The Ford man said I would get a check engine light if it was not working correctly. Where is the senser for that? How would one check that type of pcv value. I did not notice any oil in the hose where it connects to the intake, just a little in the hose where it connects to the value cover. thanks

Driver's Side Intake Picture

OK, I figured out how to post a picture.

Here is a picture of the intake on the drivers side.

Here is a schematic of the PCV valve location. This doesn't add much clarity.

Looks like the valve is part of the intake manifold?? Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, surely Ford didn't do this.

That looks right, the PCV valve lines are all plumed into the intake. However, I don't think that's your valves location ? I'll look it up , hang on.

Yea, Bartak1 would know , I'll post a pick of what he described below.

2. 6K817 PCV tube

3. W701724 PCV heater element bolts (2 required)

Yea, it's a different set up. I have nothing under PCV Valve for 2007. Just this.

The PCV system is Designed in a way that No PCV Valve is required. The heated element keeps water vapor from freezing in extreme cold weather starting.

How does it work - a calibrated orifice buried down in there somewhere?

I'm confused by this photo. My 2003 5.4 Triton looks just like that. However, the plastic valve isn't there or inserted into the hose that connects to the manifold. I do have this hose, it does loosely plug into that hole.

I'm trying to replace my PCV should I be plugging the PCV valve into this hose and connect it to the manifold?

Your 03 probably has a different cold claimant system. There should be a C-Clamp of some kind on that model. The clamp holds the valve as well as a tube that circles it and takes heat from the coolant tree/ side of the plenum to thaw it out in below zero claimants. You have to remove the clamp to get at the valve.

How can the PCV system be designed in a way that no PCV Valve is required? It looks to me like there is no pvc valve and the valve cover is a direct connect to the intake. What stops the intake from sucking oil out of the valve cover?
Why doesn't the drawing of the pcv under the hood match the way it is hooked up?
I can not find a Ford dealer that has an answer. Is it possible there might be a design flaw?

i just went though the same thing and it was a faulty pvc valve...when we replaced it...it stopped using oil.also...if you have changed your spark plugs in a while..you are in for a surpise...they all break in half when you try to remove them.it cost me 150.00 to change 5 sparkplus..(we were able to do 3 ourselves)the PVC valve was 70.00

Smile It quit using oil!

Brittany not sure what year your F150 is but my 2007 3V 5.4 does not have a PCV value. I pointed that out in a reply to this post earlier. I went from MN to TX for Christmas and for some reason it quit using oil. Did not use any going down, had the oil changed at a ford dealer and it did not use any coming home. It turned 18,000 miles on the way home.
If you have the same motor what did you have changed or where is the PCV value. Ford told me there is no PCV value

Thanks

PCV valve replacement

I have followed these posts and will replace the parts listed as an alternative to buying a $150 valve cover. Why is the dealer trying to sell me this instead of the valve and o-ring? My '05 5.4 went from using almost a quart of oil (synthetic) in 5000 miles to 2 quarts. No leaks, smoke, etc. I am hoping that this will solve some of the problems, I have a 110,000 miles on my truck.
Thanks to all those who have posted on this matter, it helps a lot.
Best regards
