he does have a point on the open filter and playing. it can be a bad combo, i have seen my filter get wet. but then again i dont really care anymore. after i get my s/c'd 5.4 in it i'll worry about that after tuning.

the only time i EVER saw a CAI let dirt in was about mid 90's on a cummins. that was a K&N

Do my homework ? ? Ha... and how long have you been working on cars for a living ? Alright, thats what i thought.

Anyways bud, as already been stated in THIS thread, the earlier model Ford had a harder time throwing a lean code. This does NOT mean your NOT running lean. Did you ever go out to buy a proper Air/Fuel ratio meter ? It was harder (not sure why...maybe someone else could chime in on that) but now, on the newer style truck people have had lean codes, and a couple guys on this very site have had it run lean enough, during a long drive to get the exhaust hot enough to catch their spare tire on fire ! ! Guess thats how the truck "learns" to use it ay ? Different truck = different issues.

Again, argue with me all you want, buy what you will. To each his own. You want to spend $300 for a $20 part ? Go for it. Or make one of your own. Or do like Klitch and buy a cheap-o one off E-bay. It'll be like a lil kid who gets his new shoes. he THINKS he can run faster, jump higher so he wants em. In reality we all know he hasn't changed, but it make no nevermind to him and he wants em anyway. Its good, its what drives our economy. But I promise you, this is a topic that comes up about once a month on the site and gets tossed around. i think most of the other guys just don't care anymore so they don't waste their time. Use the "search" function. Go back and read ALL of my posts in this thread. I have one with a good link to a thread that was talked about for days ! Couple of the guys were evn willing to draw up a diagram or two showing you the fliter and elbow are NOT the limiting factor. Those are not what retricts your air flow.

Anyways, I really don't give a chit. Do what you want. You think its make your truck run faster and jump higher, by all means my friend buy it, sport it. It will look good. (oh, way to jump on the insults... shows your a mature, older individual with years of experience ) No worries bud, time for you to go do some homework now

Klitch: Whens this SC 5.4 goin in ? Is it going to be the newer 3 v ? ?

i only got the intake cuz it was cheap and washable, took up less room than the OEM one did. also took care of a crack in the plastic.

the sc 5.4 is 2v, port and polished with oversized valves. i chose the L setup, i didnt want to go thru the hassle of the wiring differences from a 97 4.6 to a 04+ 5.4 3v

Which harness are you using Klitch ? You have an L harness ? 5four harness ? You going to use your stock harness ?

Just curious - The L harness has that PATS bullchit , but your stocker is set up for Coil Packs vrs the 5four COP system. How are you dealing with that? You using Packs or COP's?

It seems like sticking with Coil Packs might be the easier route. I dunno.

using 4.6 harness, troyer has addressed most of that issue with the tune. im keeping the packs since i found MSD's for a good price, which is OEM or better and no interferrence. it should all go together relatively well after i find time to get er in the shop and time to work on it since im raisin abby on my own now. thank god for grandma's lol

That's cool , then all you have to is mount them on the 5four motor - not sure if that's a problem - you can fab , so it probabaly won't be.

WHAT!! where did mama go? You give her the boot? She head for the hills? Shoot, your little one isn't even a year old yet is she? Well, I'm still raising 2 girls on my own. So, it can be done

oh that will be easy, the SC bracket for the idlers and tensioner has a stud that looks very promising to make a few cuts and welds on the old 4.6 bracket.

lil both, she was runnin and i followed with the boot when she looked back. shes 4 months.

I figured you would have that worked out.

That dude just down the road from me still has that the new 03 Lightning Long block. I believe it's still on eBay. Man that's exactly what I'm looking for , but he wants $6600 for it and won't budge on the price. He says he paid 8900 for it from Ford.

I can't believe she left a 4 month old Wow!
