Champion Develops "FIX" Plug for 5.4L 3 valves!
wow, thats unimpressive and scary.
What about using a cordless impact wrench on a low torque/impact setting? Do you think the impact action will loosen the plug?
I wouldn't go anymore the 25ft lbs if it can be helped. Anything more than that needed should be soaked a little longer and worked in and out. I was to nerves to do mine. Since I was under warranty I had the dealer do them, but I will do them for now on.

I see that too...but The guy at Rock Auto I spoke with looked up our plugs and said the 7879 plug was not included.
best thing I can say is call them and see what they tell you. http://info.rockauto.com/Champion/20...hampRebate.pdf

I'm at 750 miles and they seem to be working out good. Since there was confusion on what they should be gapped at I went ahead and gapped them at .051-.052 when I had the dealer put them in. Then later found out that the .054 was a typo and should’ve been .045. I called the dealer a few weeks ago and they said they did re gap them. Well it has been eating on me ever since to know for sure (I have a problem trusting what the dealer said) so I pulled two of the plugs and they the gap was .050?
Anyway the truck is still running the same as it did when they put the plugs in. The engine has idles just a tiny bit rough....but it was like this with the factory plugs and just can't tell if it is the same or worse since the champions...I think it is the same though.
I would (and might) pull the rest of the plugs to re-gap them but when I pulled the second plug it came out with some resistance the whole way. This was not from carbon build up since the ground shield was pretty clean, I think the threads are kinda messed up on that cylinder and there's not a way to know if it was from the factory or from the dealer changing the plugs. So I'm hesitant on checking the other cause of this....why mess with something when it's not broke.
Does anyone here think that it would be worth while to go ahead and change the gap or just run with it as is?
Also one thing I'll throw in here although I don't think has anything to do with the plugs. I went on vacation and the truck set with out being started for 8 days. The first time I drove it all was fine driving through my neighborhood, barely giving it any gas. But once I pulled out onto the main road and gave it some more gas, the truck would not go. It just sputtered and coughed, it acted the same way as my old ranger did when the fuel pump started go out and starved the motor of gas. As the engine got up to operating temp. it smoothed and has been normal ever since?? Anyone have input on this?
Oh yea I almost forgot. The anti-seize that the dealer put on them has turned to texture like "moist powder". I'm not sure how much it really helps but I tried not to touch the ground shield as to leave this on there just in case it leave a coating behind that keeps the carbon from sticking as much.
If had it to over again I would buy the Champions again only I would make sure they were gapped at .045.
