Champion Develops "FIX" Plug for 5.4L 3 valves!
Well guys my truck is at the dealer right now getting the plugs changed out to the new Champions. I gapped them this weekend to about .052. One thing I noticed while gapping you have to be very careful not to touch the electrode tip or the platinum section on the ground strap. They both look very fragile and could easily tear them up. So you must have a tool to grab the back side of the ground strap and adjust the gap that way.
I almost feel like asking for prayers.
I'll post up later tonight on how the change goes and how it runs after I load my Troyer tunes.

Well I have bad news and good news.
Bad news is that the dealer broke 3 of the plugs. They were able to get them out using the rotunda tool though. I was kind of surprised that they broke, truck being an 05 with 35k miles and pretty much only used Shell gas. Although a lot of the miles are from my short 12 mile stop and go trips to and from work. But at least the dealer stood by their word that if any did break they would not charge me anything extra.
Now on to the Champions. The dealer thought I was nuts for wanting to install them but they did say that "if" is helps solve this problem they don't blame me for trying. So far I've only put about 25 miles on them, about 12 miles on the stock tune and the rest with Troyer 92 oct perf tune. So far the truck runs Exactly the same as before. The only spark knock that I have is after I loaded the custom tunes and is very very minimal and only at hight RPMs and nearly WOT. I also had this same spark knock the first time I loaded the tunes several months ago. This should go away once I get a few drive cycles on the tunes.
So really if I didn't they were changed I would have no idea anything is different. We'll have to see what happens as the mileage increases. So far I give them a big

I just pulled the trigger and had the dealer replace mine. It's $210 for the plug replacement and $50 per broken plug. Whether they break or not will tell me what my issues will be in the future.
I figure my odds of getting the plugs replaced for less than $500 are pretty good.

I'm going to be changing mine myself at 70K miles. Hopefully by then we'll have enough information on how well the single piece ones work.

My Champions are gapped at .045, like DVD_FX4, I just don't know if I should increase the gap or not. I know that no one is going to have a definate answer but what would your bet guess be?
I'm thinking I might just leave them the way they are and see what happens.

Our online shop manuals have been updated...this is for an 05 5.4 3valve
Spark plug PZT-14F
Spark plug gap (not adjustable) 1.15 ± 0.13 mm (0.040 to 0.050 in )
The PZT 14F's weren't listed a few weeks back, it still had the old number in there.....
