Do you need one for a 4.6 or a 5.4? I got confused reading this thread.

To make a long story short i am doing the PI swap and i assumed that since the heads are the sme for a 5.4 and 4.6 that i bought a brand new intake, fuel rail, throttle body, and injectors.... And we think there 24lb injectors for a 5.4. Then i came to find out its not the same. So i can use some of it on my 4.6 like the throttle body and what not. But im still out an intake!

Did you gasket match your manifold and heads your self?

Hey JMC, yeah thats a good idea but I couldn't resist that ebay auction too...might as well get it anyways.

Hey jbrew, I dunno what I want yet, I'd like a real CAI ya know wit the big fancy cool looking filter and stuff, but if its worse for performance and fuel economy, why have it? Ya know. Recommend I yank out the silencer and do the gotts mod to this one? I do have the old intake housing in the shed...was thinking of working with that to try to do something with a highflow filter in it or somethin.

It's really up to you - I've built a few intakes in the past , but sold every one of them lol. They were nothing special , just a 3" tube . I'm running a stock 03 intake w/a WIX paper element for now. I would like get a nice one if and when I go with a tuner...

I wouldn't pull the silencer , besides , that's a PITA - The Gotts cold air feed mod is cool. Do the silencer if you want to experiment - I don't think it's that big of deal is all..

Just the center #'s have to match . I'm almost positive - double check that.

Just stick with the 01 to be sure - but I think your right , sometime in 2000 (late) they went to PI

Hey jbrew, yeah i dunno what i want to do, I am still wanting to get that stock L tube off eba just so i have the option to revert to stock.

I did the silencer mod on the other one at first and it seemed to really help! I dunno, vise grips seemed to get mine out pretty quick

What CAI are you going to get SOMEDAY or do you suggest I get, i don't really want to pay the price for the AF1.....
