So you ditch the Ford after you get it back, go get a Chev and it acts up, what will be next? There aren't a pile of options out there.

My friend had a top of the line Silverado and anything that could go wrong with a vehicle did go wrong...he got rid of it (owing a pile of cash on it) and got another Silverado and had both doors replaced within the first 1200kms he had it due to ice build up in the door jams causing the doors to buckle when you opened them...

They are all good with the "junk" ones waiting out there for someone to buy them.

Even the famous Toyotas are having difficulties....

4 wheel drive only (tundra)
Like myself once you do have a problem and go to ford it becomes a nightmare. My service engine light is on and I will take to the dealer Saturday.
Lets see what they say now. Don't get me wrong the dealer has been great it's Ford's ****y warranty I have a problem with. And thats why when my warranty expires in march I will be switching over.

Well, good luck then. My '04 had a number of issues, probably mostly related to the first year. Anyway, anytime I had to get a warranty repair, I was given a free car. A taurus, which sucked, but a free car regardless. I've had nothing but bad vehicles from GM. '89 Cheyenne which leaked everywhere, loose suspension by 50Kmiles, sagging drivers door. '89 S10 Blazer that pretty much fell apart. '96 Yukon which was impossible to keep running because of the side mount battery posts, manifold issues, fuel pump failures. List goes on and on. And, while my '97 F150 was getting some body work done from a parking lot fender bender I rented an '05 Silverado. 14K miles on it and it was rattling and it leaked oil. Could be because it was a rental, but it seemed on par to me. They all have problems. Toyota will no longer get a blanket "recommend" from Consumer Reports due to quality issues.

I lost my engine due to that hydrolock thing and my dad swore he'd never buy another Ford again (140,000 m on the engine when it went) and he wants to get a Tundra as soon as I grad HS and he gives the F-150 to me. I can't wait until he starts calling me asking to use my truck when those Tundras start falling apart. What goes up, MUST come down! Good luck on your truck dude. At least you didn't lose your truck to a fire due to that cruise control thing a while back like some guys on here did.

I just bought a 4.7L V-8 2003 4-runner Limited with 117,000 miles on it.

I gotta say, that engine is so much quieter and smoother than my 4.6, 1998 F-150....though I bought that used as well and it has 144,000 miles on it now. But, some of you know that my fuel filter had some hellacious garbage in it and that DID NOT destroy my Ford motor. In fact that's a testament to the rugged design of the fuel system.

Both had documented and timely service records, and both have been reliable while I've owned them as high mileage vehicles. They both have the same type of squeaks and rattles, the Ford maybe has more but I'm pretty rough with the truck. Which should tell you something. Both brands can produce reliable vehicles.

The only thing that bugs me is I have to do a $800 timing belt on the Toy (they replace the water pump, idler pullies and some other stuff on the front of the engine should have been done at 100k but what you gonna do), whereas the Ford engine is good to go.

Raymond, the fact is you ran an engine dry of oil and destroyed it. Now whether you, walmart or Ford is the dumbass in the equation for not checking the oil is the only problem we need to sort out.

"I love the tundras. I wish they were a few thousand cheaper though. I will be trading this in for a chevy the MINUTE i get it back. I will never deal with ford again."

4 wheel drive only with the toy turd?? so the tailgates are stronger on the 4x4 and the torque converters are better on the 4x4 and the paint in the interior is better on the 4x4 Go ahead and trade your Ford.. just because someone else changed your oil and screwed up. Bye!!

I will admit that Ford has a crappy warranty. I was overseas when my warranty expired and when I got back (1 week later) I wanted it to go in for a last check and they told me that they couldn't help me. I now get any of my work done else where.

My brother has a Camry and when he gets the oil changed, it is washed and detailed....If the trucks weren't so expensive I would consider one just for the warranty and service.

An old timer had his 198something Toyota truck in and it had 1 million kms on it-apparently he has taken this truck in for every check up and for the last 500 thousand kms he has had free oil changes. if the domestics want to stay afloat they will soon have to mirror this type of service...

You have hit on a big reason why the superior attitude of japanese car owners... the dealers pound it into there head that they HAVE to bring the car in for checkups. They gloss over the fact that anyone can do the checkup. So japanese vehicle owners tend to bring the car in and have it serviced. When they find something wrong at the dealer, it is fixed and customer charged if out of warranty. Domestic owners tend to neglect the cars more. Then when they break, they complain. Never mind they didn't do the required service, and change parts on time. This is a generalization of course, but pretty accurate I think.

Something I havent given much thought to, but its true. I would get my oil changed by Ford if it didnt take them 3 hours

Wouldn't be very useful if it didn't have holes.

5w20 is used in 4.6/5.4 and 5w30 is for the V6. Mistake on the oil changer's part? The weight difference won't make any difference really. Are you sure they put enuff oil back in? I don't trust those places any how.
