Just wanted to say thanks for all the help. So I had the truck towed this morning to a ford dealerhip. The service guy said, "it looks like the oil chang place put 5-30 in instead of 5-20" wer are not sure if we can cover this. Basically the engine is GONE. Is there anyone else I can call. The service manager is off until tomorrow and they cant make a decision without him. Thanks

He is full of ****. By law he has to prove that not only was 5-30 used but that 5-30 caused the damage. Get your reciept from the last oil change ready. Dont back down, be firm but try to keep your cool. You are 100% in the right on this and have no reason to be screwed out of a motor.

wether is was 5-30 or 5-20 shouldnt make a differnece if the oil filler neck was loose and all the oil spilled out. He confimed that the engine is GONE. and that is needs to be replaced. He has to wait for his service manager to come in to even see if this will be covered. I called ford and they did NOTHIGN...how the F**K is this possible. I am RIPPED right now.

They are going to try a couple things to see if you will just roll over and take it. Some people are not aware of the rights they have by law and will just pay the bill. Stand firm and you will be fine. No conversation needs to be had really. The motor is gone under warranty and they should call you when it is fixed, end of story

I agree, a lawyer would make them sing a new tune real quick

It will be a lawsuit so the lawyer will sue them for his fee. Most lawyers will take your case like that if they feel you have a good one. If the first lawyer tells you he wants money upfront keep callin..

Allot of times its good enough to just say, I've talked to my attorney and he says I have an excellent case for a lawsuit if you wont cover it.

I just asked the dealer why they WOULDNT cover it. he said he has to talk to his service manager and make sure its covered. I then asked why it WOULDNT be covered and he said maybe walmart(which is ehere I get my oil changed and have been for 3 years) loosened the oil filler neck. HOW IS THIS PLACE A 5 STAR DEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!

So first they blame it on the 5-30 and now Walmart damaged your truck on purpose even though they stand nothing to benefit from that because they dont even do engine repairs
Just FYI though do not get your oil changed at walmart. When something like this happens it is much easier to place the blame on a bunch of highschool drop out grease monkeys than it would be to place it on a reputable shop with ASE cert mechanics

exactly, they're talking out of their *** to scare you, so you should do the same to them. Usually it'll make something happen.

edit: or if they really are a 5 star dealer, threaten them with going to corporate. I've heard a few cases of stuff like this being pulled, but when someone mentioned corporate, the dealer fixed whatever had to be done in fear of losing their 5 star status/rep
