Usually a Ford rep has to review the claim first and determine the basis.
Oil weight of 5w30 is not a basis of denying a claim if the oil has been rated to meet specs. That's easy as going to the oil vendor and see.
If a bearing has worn or some other part has given up, you can't do a strech and blame the time of day, the wind or the oil or guess at it.
The oil change vendor uses the oil in other vehichles and has the same liability.
While I would not use 5w30 in winter, it is not that much heavier than 5w20.
As far as the filler tube coming loose, it might bleed some oil but should not be a cause of great loss or you would have seen oil all over the motor and on the ground..
My feeling is the oil changer 'may' have not put enough in.
If they find 'little' oil in the crankcase, it could be grounds for denial of claim, then you have to go after the oil change vendor for neglience but a difficult path proving it, without legal help building the case.
Don't blame it on the fact the truck is a FORD. Could have happened to any other make as well.

Dealers are independent entities all of them are different. Sometimes you have to deal with Ford directly to get things done.

there is absolutly no way the oil came out of the loose neck. You would have noticed it big time. Especially going down the hiway, the blast of air going thru the radiator would have put all over the engine compartment. As was said before, the engine has vaccum in the crankcase. Oil won't do anything but mist out of there on the best of circumstances. And you would know it big time. I wouldn't even think of bringing that excuse up to the dealer. they will laugh you out of there.

This is the second time I see some one try to generate war, before the procedure has been played out for an unfortunate happening.
Be patient, I know it's a great inconvience but everything does not work as fast as you would like it to.
As I had said, you are dealing with FORD thru the dealer.
Act like a pri*k and you get treated like one. Dealer doesnot not care on that point because it gets too personal and they will defend just the same as you would..

actually the dealer was very good SO FAR...just doesnt communicate too well in my opinion. They put a Gas Engine Pro Approval into ford and ford now wants the oil pan dropped and looked at before approving anything. I agree with the above statement, I am jumping the gun. However it seems like the middles class working person ALWAYS gets stiffed. I am just fed up with it. Th edealer was real cool and will have a rental for me tomorrow. Thanks
Dude you made it sound like they were giving you the shaft. Please dont ever buy anything from ME..
