Dealers are full of XXXX

the fact that the dealer gave you a clean bill of health last week should be all that needs to be said. if you want to stretch a point the way your dealer seems to do- suggest maybe they drained the oil and forgot to refill the crankcase. also have the ******* look at the viscosity curves of 5W30 VS 5W20 and explain how that amaged your engine. they are on the internet.

Folks, warrentee is from Ford, not the dealer.
The dealer gets paid to do the work.
Usually a Ford rep has to review the claim first and determine the basis.
Oil weight of 5w30 is not a basis of denying a claim if the oil has been rated to meet specs. That's easy as going to the oil vendor and see.
If a bearing has worn or some other part has given up, you can't do a strech and blame the time of day, the wind or the oil or guess at it.
The oil change vendor uses the oil in other vehichles and has the same liability.
While I would not use 5w30 in winter, it is not that much heavier than 5w20.
As far as the filler tube coming loose, it might bleed some oil but should not be a cause of great loss or you would have seen oil all over the motor and on the ground..
My feeling is the oil changer 'may' have not put enough in.
If they find 'little' oil in the crankcase, it could be grounds for denial of claim, then you have to go after the oil change vendor for neglience but a difficult path proving it, without legal help building the case.
Don't blame it on the fact the truck is a FORD. Could have happened to any other make as well.

I agree that somethings not adding up here. There is NO way that 7 quarts of oil could be pumped out the oil fill tube and you wouldn't notice it. For one thing it should have been smoking like a bear from oil running down on the exhaust manifold. For another thing, I seriously doubt ALL of that oil would go out the filler tube. The engine does run under an internal vacuum (hence the pcv valve works) and all you would have lost is a little due to splashing out. My guess is whomever did the last oil change put little if any oil back in it and the dealer didn't catch it when they ordered the sending unit. I'm amazed the engine ran as long as it did with no oil in it.....now THAT'S Ford tough!

I'd think Walmart is on the hook for buying a new engine as it seems they didn't put any or enough oil in on the change.

3.
brought my engine to the dealer this week (24k miles) because the oile pressure gauge was going from medium and them dropping suddenly to zero...and then back up.
2.
yes there was no oil on the dipstick
1.
I then asked why it WOULDNT be covered and he said maybe walmart(which is ehere I get my oil changed and have been for 3 years) loosened the oil filler neck.
that's why I do my own. Holy *****.

Now, I put numbers next to the items quoted because that's how this whole affair reads chronologically, correct?

You got an oil change at walmart at what mileage (less than 24k)?

Then you noticed ticking and oil pressure guage bobbing around.

Then you took it to Ford and they bought a new unit to install.

Then you blew the truck up on the highway.

Then you towed it to Ford dealer.

_If that's correct_ It would seem Walmart didn't put oil in the truck and you never checked it after the fact and Ford never checked it as well when they installed that sending unit.

I would imagine Ford won't be doing **** for you and Walmart may not either....you'll need a lawyer....

Walmart did a fine job on the oil. I checked it about 3 weeks ago. I check the oil half way thru changes just to make sure. Something happened in the meantime. The oil filler neck came loose. HOW????im not sure but this is where the oil drained out.

Ok maybe so but how on earth could it blow 7 quarts out the filler and you not know it?! Man it should have looked like the Exxon Valdez under there!

I think I'd check the filter to see how tight it is or even if it's the correct one. I'd also check to see if there's two seals on the filter instead of just one.

If they dont cover it I have a lwayer on retainer fro my business. I will give him a call. I just dont understand what good a 60k powertrain warranty is when they dont actually fix anything.

If it came out of the filler cap you would've smelled it and seen the residue all over the motor.

It didnt come out of the cap it came out of the neck which was unscrewed almost fully from the engine. Because of the angle of the filler neck the oil dripped down onto the ground. I see a little spot on my driveway but not 6 quarts worth.

Look in your owners manual there should be a number for a ford rep. call him tell him what happened then you find out where ford stands.Ford can get any dealership to do the work.
