Are u sure? I tow an enclosed 17 ft. trailer that weighs 6500 lbs. loaded, my poor truck felt like a terd dragging a brick when I had the 3.55 gears in, it didn't feel any good until I put 4:10 gears in it. Mine's only got 80k on it, I got it 2 years ago with 44k.

its all about the 4.6.... i've handed it to numerous 5.4's... i don't care if you believe me or not i KNOW that i have, and at the next stop, they always look in aw... btw damn near EVERY late 90's early 00 mustang gt part fits this engine.... LOTS of potential

Yeah I'm sure. It's a little slow getting up to speed but once I'm there it'll cruise along at 60-65 no problem if I don't use cruise. I do turn off OD. I have found that the 4.6 loves to run at around 2500 when towing.

Yeah, I have found the same thing, the only negative that I have about the 4:10 gears is that now when i tow at 60 i'm turning almost 3000 rpm. On the up side, with the gears you can tow doing 70 mph in OD comfortably.

I have no complaints about the 4.6. But the 5.4 is better. Plain and simple.

Not bashing the 4.6L, I wouldn't want to hijack this thread, but I will bet my last dollar that your story goes both ways. ( 5.4's handing it to 4.6's )
I will agree there are alot of 4.6 aftermarket parts, but what can you really purchase for the 4.6 besides a supercharger, nitrous, intakes, and heads, that you can't buy for the 5.4?

And on another note, where does someone with the newer body style, with a 4.6 (2004, 4x4, xlt) get those said superchargers and new heads etc? Perhaps some good cams too? I love my 4.6 but would like some more oomph out of her. any input glaldy appreciated

That's sad if you cannot get those kind of parts for your year of truck . Thank god that I have a 97, cause I got em all on my 4.6. Heck, if you cant find em, do like I did and have a fully forged motor built that they all will work with .

In all honesty that is not much to brag about. Stock the new 5.4s suffer from the dreaded Send a memo to the throttle body we need speed syndrome.
