Well glad to see more people are happy with the 4.6 than just me. i regularly tow a open top, two axle trailer with a beefed up Suzuki Samurai on it (plus tons of camping/recovery gear) and she does just fine. I force her to pull that trailer through mud, up STEEP hills (that a 4x2 wouldn't make) and she does it w/ no problems. I really am impressed with the small v8. I say stick with tried and true!

Had my 4.6 for a lil over a year. It has performed very very well for me and I dont regret it in the slightest. After the addition of 20" rims and 33" tires I am going to regear for when I start towing again, but thats hardly the motors fault

03' 4x4 with a 4.6 I am pleased with it. Just need to add a cold air intake and magnaflow to get more out of it.

2002 Lariat 4.6, Extended cab here... 86,xxxx miles on her, no problems to speak of. Just waiting for so money to get my cowl hood, L bumper cover and Magnaflow exhaust, then i am done! Put the Belltech lowering shackles in this past weekend, looks great.

I say that now.. maybe a tuner.. some H.D. 20"s...drop the front maybe 1.5"..

The 4sixes havent made it to the photo shoot yet for the magazines....hence the reason you dont see them

Naa, I cant bag on the 4six too much though...if my old one had stock sized tires I could have hung with a 5four, and I didnt realy have any aftermarket chit on it, just stuff I did myself tinkering around and what not... I do think that if that truck had a 5.4 I would still have it though...loved that thing except that it shoulda been faster.

That pretty much sums it up in my opinion. Which is not so bad for me since I drive like a grandpa anyway. I would have prefered 4.10's from the factory though it would put me in a better part of the power curve for most of my driving. I'm doing some construction at the house and have towed 6 - 8 thousand several times. From cement to gravel to mini excavators. I was very impressed with the truck's performance. I took a little longer to get up to speed aside from that everything else was pretty much normal.

Had the 4.6 in my '97 for ten years and 146K miles. No problems at all. It worked kinda hard towing on hills but never hiccupped at all. It's a bit pipey for the new trucks though, so I'm glad I'm rollin with the 5.4 in my '04 4X4 Screw which is truly a heavyweight compared to the older trucks. A great engine all around. Pretty pleased with the bigger engine too , once I got some tunes and fixed the lame factory programming....
