Unless you have a locker,,the fronts going to pull with one wheel.
Go for it,,,if it breaks,,that just gives you an excuse to get rid of all that extra weight.

yeah yeah i know lol... Id love to ditch it all, but I really need the 4wd. we have pretty rough winters and id rather strip down a single cab sb f150 than this one.

I would be more worried about the t-case. Mine is finally showing signs of abuse. I launch in the rain and shift back into 4x2 after shifting into second gear. The CV's will break when stressed at an angle. Just keep the wheels straight. What I do is mark each tire with a white chalk line that runs through the centre of the wheel and is perpendicular to the the ground and and carries onto the ground. Then I push the truck forward till the rear driver side wheel does one complete turn and the mark is now perpendicular to the ground again. Then I look at all the other wheels to see if the mark is perpendicular. If it is then the wheels are matched. If not I inflate or deflate the other wheels till they all complete one revolution and the marks are all perpendicular. This gets me pretty close to having all the wheels the same diameter.

I know I don't have the HP your running, but to keep from smoking up the tires I often do 4x4 launches, I would think the CV's would be the weak link. Knowing the size of the chain in the transfercase, it would take alot to snap it, but who knows what the HP rating of the transfer case, anybody?

I say to be on the safe side, only use it in low traction situations, so your tires would break loose before the CV's would have a chance to snap.

low traction issues are any time im under 30mph on any surface. My cv shafts are sitting horizontally, so they shouldnt be stressed too much.

Lucky Bugger

I would say go for it , at least if something does let go, we will all know where the weak point is if you have 600hp

There is a company that will make you custom heavy duty CV shafts if you want them. They make them for the wild twin turbo LS1 powered dune buggys. The down side is that they are like $1200 a peice not to mention when you replace them you will only find your next week link. The magizne that I fould this off of put them on a 3/4 ton cheby. After they put them on they found the next week link was the front diff housing. I kown that cheby are notorious for week front susupension or at least tie rods for that matter. Which on our trucks (or atleast mine) is alumunum so dont know how that would work out. I can find you a link for the CV shafts if you would like?

nah im not going to spend that kind of money on them. I've seen plenty of single cab duramax trucks launch in 4wd and never break anything. I wonder how much stronger their shafts are than what I have?

From what I have seen the cage inside the joint is the weak link. The ***** and the tulip are not that weak. When you turn the wheels the cage gets stressed at an angle and cracks.

The shafts I dont know but most guy will lower ther T bars to help launch which also helps ease some of the stress. Also they have a 9 1/2 front diff so there is probibly a little bit more meat there.

Cool

HI!... 12.95E.T at 94MPH?????? Somethings wrong there. Either he let off towards the end or his truck has no top end at all. I ran a 14.67E.T at almost 92MPHwith a N/A V-6 Ranger! Even though he's got a truck, he should still be trapping a very high 98-99mph but most likely 100-102mph.

I don't know for sure, but I would say that 4x4 is hurting his MPH at the end. I know if I'm in 4x4 that I am way quicker outta the hole, but take longer to hit 80 MPH.

I wonder what the effect is if he is running low gears like 4:56's

Or it's just a cheby that hit it's governor
