A custom tune or appropriate canned tune written to remove the speed limiter is what you are looking for.

Yes, there is a limit programmed into the computer, this can be changed with a tuner, but my question is......WHY?

I can understand this on a sports car or something of the sorts, or hell even a sports truck, but I can't remember a time I ever needed to go 100+ mph in my half ton truck! Keep in mind, I do understand the need for speed, I am 25 yrs old, have a sports bike (Suzuki Bandit 1200) and like fast cars/trucks, but my F150 is just fine under the 100mph mark

I don't even feel safe doing 75 mph in my F150... in my Dakota, 85 mph doesn't feel safe. :o

He wants it off because why should the government or Ford decide how fast his truck should go. He can control that with his foot via input from his brain.

contact Troyer for a tune.

the speed limiter is set based on the speed rating of the stock tires. my 97 F150 is set at 94 mph. My wifes 01 Cobra is set somwhere above 155 mph

If you don't feel safe going over 75, 1) don't; 2) fix your truck; 3) stay out of Memphis or any other major city. I haven't been to one yet where normal traffic moved THAT slowly. Even Baton Rouge traffic will be running up on you. Personally, I'm comfortable in my antique POS beater rolled Bronco with the cruise at 100mph. (Yes, the speedo is calibrated.) I do 75 just going to the grocery store. Same for the CV.

I've never tried taking my truck up to where the limiter kicks in, however I do have the Xcal 2 on order from Troyer..

That said, there are soooo many miles of highway here, long long drives.. I do 80 - 85 whenever I can and people still blow by me.. lol

I previously had a little twin turbo Eagle Talon and cruising at 110 or so was nice.. I found the limit on that one, it was 138..

And yes, the limiter is there mainly for the tire rating..

If you're content @ 70; fine. Some of us aren't. My thinking is: I don't need to be on the highway, so I'm getting off ASAP. I need to be where I'm going, so the sooner I get there, the better.

75-80 is max for me in this truck cause 24's are hard to keep perfectly balanced...... 81-82 i start to feel the shake and back her down a bit besides the faster you go the longer it takes 6000lbs of steel to stop and miami/fort lauderdale is ranked number 3 for the worst cities with traffic jams and accidents

Not to speak of the fact that 99 MPH exceeds any speed limit in the country by 19 mph or more...........

Glad I dont live near you. Good to see you got your priorities straight. Your time is so precious the small bit you will save is worth endangering the lives of those around you. That Bronco was never made to handle such speeds, not is any truck or SUV.

Just dont be a dumb@ss and use your head.....and remember, you need to make sure your tires are rated for whatever speed you plan on going to, AND, I recall hearing the drivshafts on these 04+ models are WEEK, and when you get your truck wrapped out at 135 mph they might drop, which would be no fun, so a driveshaft hoop could save your *** there, or a whole new decent drivshaft.
