Yhea I too found out that drinking in other countries is diffrent. I drink Bass quite often here in the states. When I was coming back from my second over seas trip I drank 2 pints in an Ireland airport and I was tanked. Not sure what the content diffrence was but beer there was much darker no matter which brand.

Well, I had a misfire on #4 awhile ago and while misfiring the truck made some strange noises - like an major air leak so I decided to tear the top end off and check it out. The COP's are all good.

What I found is that the plugs were all loose and #4 was only finger tight. Both of my heads are pitted around the water jacket for some reason. They didn't leak but I filled with aluminum filler..

My heater line was leaking bad , I replaced the O-rings last year , but they were shot again so I cut a piece from tthe line and added a piece of heater hose as a replacement.

Like I said the plugs were loose - That's not good. Motorcraft plugs have tapered ends that meet when compressed . That is where I'm placing cause of them working loose.

NGK makes there plugs for this truck using a compression washer. I believe this to be a better design , so I'm giving them a shot..

so why were they lose? did you not install them correctly the last time?

is this the same plug that is installed from the factory?

Honestly - prolly not. Spec torque is 12-16lb's I believe - I cranked them down to 25lb's a year ago because 16lb's didn't seem to be enough for me - that was my 4th plug change - I have 206,000 on this motor. I tried to run Bosch plugs at on time and the motor fired up and quit 5 seconds later and wouldn't start again.

Yes OEM - The Motorcrafts in this pic. The Autolites in this pic lasted about 40 miles and they began to misfire - multiple/random misfire codes and also misfired below 1000 rpm codes .. Look at the Autolites in the pic , they got so hot they turned colors lol..

Also , my 98 Windsor block didn't include a block drain on the passenger side ? I finally drilled and tapped for plug to flush it properly..

Cool

HI!... I run the AUTOLITE AR-93's. Best plugs I've ever run in my truck. Denso's were the worst for me.

[QUOTE][Theoredically, Seems to me Plugs would only come loose through vibration - metal to metal. Anti - sieze would counter that and overall lesson the chances of mineut compression loss or complications that may lead to a blow out. I've never snugged plugs and wouldn't if they didn't have a compression washer on them from the manufacturer - you need to use the right plugs they need to be torqed as any other. never herd of snugging your plugs in any shop manual. I don't think people (including the dealerships are installing them right) you siezed your motor, so you had other issue's - but still - "snug" vrs. Torqed properly, by the book..Not ounce have I heard of anyone in this thread install them correctly, most don't know how they were installed , just by whom. I can believe that 5% of the people don't know by just reading this thread. To be honest I haven't investigatd all the imformation that I could be on theis topic - I'm stuck on the commen sense thing still - please don't take this personal. I'm not affraid to learn, I just don't see the justification yet.
/QUOTE]

do we have a yet?

Mike Troyer swears by Denso's - It takes 5,000 volts less to fire a DENSO Iridium Power spark plug versus a conventional platinum spark plug. Sounds good , but my concern is keeping them tight. The tapered connection vrs. the compression washer connection. See what I'm saying? Anyone double check there torque after an install within a 2000 miles or so to find they have indeed loosened?

So far NGK has the compression washer , where the others are lacking.
