Yea ive been trying to do that forever and i finally found out why it doesnt work. For some reason on the 99 and up models they did something with the tach signal wire so that you cant just hook up a tach to it. Its not impossible, people have done it with ignition systems but i find it hard to believe that the only way we can get a tach in the truck is to spend $400 on an ignition box. Also in the new Truckin' magazine somebody wrote in asking them how to install a tach on the 99 and up ones but they weren't helpful. They just said to recheck your connections and try a little harder.

I finally got it hooked up today. I found an older post explaining the proccess. The message was posted by "LTDC" and it is located in "APPEARANCE PRODUCTS". He posted a message that explains it, I did it and it worked fine.

Nope it didnt work at all i still got no signal. How did you hook up your tach wire. If i followed the instructions right you go thru the computer connector but i couldnt find any wire connectors that would work so i just tried to stuff it in there.

I also just stuffed mine in there, but made sure it was pushed down in the notch so that it wouldn't touch anything else. seems like there was another msg left by someone saying they couldn't get it to work either. Might try it again to make sure it got a good connection, it could've slipped out just enough to lose connection.
