05 4.6 transmission

assuming you have a 2wd truck, 2005-2008 F series and E series transmission is a direct bolt in. Passenger car transmission will also work, but you need the short output shaft model and it will require that you swap the shifter arm in the transmission, which requires removing the pan and taking stuff apart.
If its 4wd, F series truck only.
If its 4wd, F series truck only.

Officially, Ford changed the transmission designation to 4R70E/4R75E in 2004.
4.6L engines got the 4R70E in 2004 and 2005. 5.4L engines go the 4R75E in 2004 and 2005. the main difference is the planetary gear is hardened on the 4R75E behind the 5.4L engine.
in 2006, all 4.6L/5.4L applications got the 4R75E transmission.
