I'm not going to jump into the argument currently taking place, but I'll just provide my own huble opinion...
If you're going up any size in tire diameter, I recommend budgeting for gears. I know I'll never go down that road again. If I ever get a new truck, I'll do tires/gears at the same time knowing what I know now. Your truck will thank you and you'll be reaping the benefits every time you drive it. Heck, I only went to 33's and couldn't believe what gears returned to my driving performance/satisfaction.
This is also very dependant on what gears you are starting out with (since I didn't see where anyone even considered that). If you have 3.55's, 35's are gonna pretty much suck a$$, IMO. 3.73's, you'll be OK, but not great.
It's kinda like that saying "there's no replacement for cubic inches"...anything (a tuner) to try and restore driveabilty caused by oversized tires, other than gears, is just a band-aid...there's no replacement for gears.

and feel free to add your .02
im all ears
Gears really aren't that expensive and they will help return your truck to stock like form with the bigger tires. i have been building trucks since i was 14. i have done many without changing gears. 35's don't put a hurting on the tranny like 37's, 40, 44's do but it really depends on what you are using your truck for. if you are going for looks like you said, then gears aren't a big deal. you will lose some *** no doubt about it but is there really a need to race a big truck on the highway?
To check what gears you have you need to look on your door panel for the axle code. On my 04 supercab the sticker is on the driver side rear door. My axle code is "19" so that means I have a 3.55 open differential.
.243 savage, .22 marlin, 20gauge rem 870, .30 carbine, snake charmer, .380 pistol, 44 mag lever action....cant remember the rest off the top of my head.
I clean each one every time I shoot them.
i have scopes on most of the rifles, except the mauser and sks obviously
and a couple of bipods.
My brother reloads ammo so I also have dyes for each gun.

Nice! Sounds like a solid collection. I have a RIA 1911, EAA Bounty Hunter .45LC SA revolver, Maadi (AK) and a Remington 11-87 12 gauge shotgun. I have reloading dies for .45acp and .45LC. The ammo for the other two are cheap as heck so reloading for them isn't cost effective.
how bout goin for the fabtech 7.5" lift that is specifically made to run 35's and made for 2wd's. comes with shocks, springs, and everything else to lift. Then just buy the front leveling kit if your still not leveled, or go with shorter rear blocks. btw, you can find it for about $1400. Thats what im in the process of saving for right now, im in college to with a sh*t job. lol

Yes...factor that into your cost! If you're not going to gear, your fuel mileage will suffer. Gears will fix that.
yes it will suffer but not that bad in a 2wd. now if it was 4wd i would do it for sure but it really depends on the set up he goes with. like i said been lifting trucks for a while and it all depends on the driver and the set up. but Galaxy i agree it will get his gas mileage almost back to stock and give him some get up. No complaints about that
