U-Bolts/Blocks

Taking the rear blocks out will have you buying new u-bolts, because the threads stop short of the new thickness you now have between the axle and the springs. I had mine made, but i was told you can buy a 2wd set at the dealer and they will work, because that is now your new thickness without your blocks. Hope that helps. Cheers

I like how he starts the thread requesting no one to give him crap about lowering a 4wd and some people do it anyways. Leveling the back or lowering the whole truck still doesn't affect him using his 4wd when he needs it. It's all about looks and either way, I think it will good. I personally would level the back. Did that on my Silverado with 20's and it looked great.

I am going to level my 05 SCREW as well. It seems that the front of mine has gotten lower on its own over the last 4 years. I would consider the removal of the 2" blocks from the rear, but the truck already seems to be too low in the front. What would be the favored leveling kit for the front? Will an alignment be needed after the front is raised? If measuring from the inner lip of the wheel well, is there a 2" difference in height between the front and back? Thanks

I have an 07 FX4 and would like to remove the rear blocks. I am hearing that I would need to change my brake lines, shocks and u bolts. Is this true? Can I just order shocks for an FX2 along with the u bolts? Am I missing anything else?

Just removing the rear block:
You only need the 2wd u-bolt.
Nothing else have to change.

For a 2wd leveled look on a 4x4: 2wd front shock and remove the rear block with the 2wd u-bolt and the FX2 rear Shackle or any 1" drop shackle.

DJM3/5 kit fit on 4x4..but won't give you the same drop as the 2wd will get.
They will if you change the front strut for the 2wd and remove the rear block

I did that and lowered the front a couple inches also, then had to reallign the front. I love it though, drives great, looks great (IMHO)

Like already said, you need shorter U-bolts (or you could use long tube spacers between nuts and axle clamps but you'ld have really long bolts hanging down .... not so good a deal IMHO) and I did have to have a section cut out and replaced on one tail pipe that the PO had routed over the axle center to cross to the left (not stock) ....
.... and caution if you haul heavy loads or otherwise think you might compress the rear suspension to bumpstops.
The FX4 rear shocks are long enough that once the blocks and their bump stop tabs are gone, the shocks will bottom out as the bumpstops hit the axle tube. This puts a tremendous strain on the upper rear shock mounts, and frame where it's not intended to absorb the shock.

So yeah .... you might consider some 2WD shocks if heavy hauling or such. I have not changed my shocks yet, truck has only 42K on it and I don't haul heavy or jump it, etc ... so I'm not concerned with them bottoming. Next set I'll use 2WD spec shock lengths.

Brake lines, etc are all OK as is.
