Lowering an FX4

I have a '06 supercab FX4 w/ factory 18" wheels. Has anyone seen a truck with the DJM 3.5/5 kit on one of these trucks? I don't plan on buying wheels
for a while. I want my truck to look lowered, and not look like a stock 2wd truck. A don't give me any crap for lowering a 4x4. IMHO the only true 4x4 has a solid front axle, a gear to gear t-case and lockers front and rear. Can you tell I used to own a Jeep? Anyway thanks for any input, good or bad.

I own an Fx4 and I would like to level my truck but I dont want to raise the front i would rather lower the back. I thought perhaps drop shackles on the springs. I dont know if this would work but if so it would give me the ride height im looking for. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Lower a 4wd!?! Nooooooooooo!

I suggest buying a 2wd and selling that 4wd with that nasty unwanted 4wd. The price difference between the 2wd and 4wd could buy you a lot of aftermarket goodies.

You do have the right idea about a true 4x4. Most of which does not apply to the F150.

You can install drop shackles to lower the rear 2 inches. Or, you can just remove the oem 2 inch lift block and lower the rear for free.

Nobody said that it didn't look good, it is just kinda weird IMO to buy a 4X4 and lower it. But I'am not one to say not to do something, its your truck so feel free to do what you want.

A lot of people only buy 4x4's so they can commute on snowy/icy roads without getting stuck. THey don't want or need a tall truck. So, for them it makes sense to lower a 4x4.
It's not any differnt than buying a 4x2 and lifting it just because you like tall trucks. I have a lifted truck, but I don't need 4x4.

I think the DJM 3 5/5 kit is made for 2 wheel drive trucks only ,but I may be wrong. BTW 4x4 are not supposed to be "lowered". They just need big tires and wheels. just my 2 cts. Boyd

Actually, if you go to DJM's site, it states right there that thier kits will work on 2wd and 4x4's

Yeah, I remember that. You were one of the few that never said anything negative about lowering a 4x4 or FX4.

BTW, thank you for being supportive, and polite.
