Question for the '04+ guys, with a 6" suspension lift is there any adverse effects on front end component life? My buddy had a Ranger with a quality suspension lift and 33's and he'd have to redo ball joints etc EVERY year, even had the spindle with the front tire come off on the freeway once. Obviously the Ranger is a bit of a toy truck but it would be a little annoying to me to have to replace costly front end components regularly.

yes, front parts will wear faster. By how much depends on how you treat your truck, but every year? no

Level/Lift

I'm looking for a leveling/lift kit for my 1993 Ford F150 4x4. I would like one that I can do myself without spending a fortune or needing any special shop tools. Any suggestions? I've looked at the Daystar leveler and found it for around $130. I would like one that lifts both the front and back about 2" and levels.

unless you or a friend has something to compress the springs while you put in the spacer id just have a shop do it. way back when i had spacers i just had my shop do it and it only ended up being like 175 for everything. some places will try and rip you off though so watch out. and just get blocks or aal for the rear.

He has a 93, so it should be a straight axle and coil up front. If i'm right, basic tools and it should be very straight forward. check to see if daystar has instructions on their website, if you find them PM me and i'll look over them if you aren't 100% sure on something.

for the rear you can do an AAL or slightly larger rear block depending on your uses for the truck.

Question Question

Okay, I bought an 05 fx4 previously lifted and I don't know what size lift is on it. Based on what I read in your post it's a 6" lift. My question is, can I go out with a tape measure and measure the lifting blocks in my leaf springs to tell me what lift is on it? This maybe a dumb question but I've never bought a pre-lifted vehicle before and I want to know what size it is so I can buy new shocks for it.

You need to check the front cross member to find what size lift. Post a picture of the front cross member and i'll tell you what it is.

I went back and edited mine and added some info for those who are considering a 4x4 conversion, I decided it was time to add that too haha.

Camburg's great, but not for everyone. Not everyone needs or has a need for a full blown pre-runner let alone the cash to afford it haha.

They have setups for a decent prices. You don't need a full blown pre-runner to have fun, just something that will with stand abuse ha
