Why lift a 2 wheel drive?
I am down. Sami is outta service for a little while, but I still got the truck. When yall meetin up ? PM me about it. Sunday I am going to the Rams/niner game, but thats my only plans this weekend.
Might start plannin something for Turkey day. I'll see whats up and letcha all know.
i gota step in and defend the 2wd's. my truck is my dd so i dont try to destroy it but i definatley take her out when i can and get her nice and dirty. however if i could afford the difference in insurance id take a 4wd just to have the peace of mind that id have a better chance of getting out of something

Anyways, I got nothing against 2wd, I just didn't want one. 4wd serves a much better purpose for me, thats all. Its not for everyone.
Where yall goin ?

And your a perfect example. Your 2wd, you wheel, but I have seen your struggle in a place, where 4wd mighta got ya out. Might of...

Old man, i have been around trucks since i was born. You like to rag on 2wd trucks but thats because you dont know how and where to use them, but your response did let me know what kind of OFFROADING you do. You like to take it slow and climb rocks, I like to haul *** on MUD, DIRT and SAND. Come to So Cal and ill show you want fun is.

The fact still exists, most people who own a 4X4 ask why would you lift a 4X2? The anwer still comes from most people who own the 4X2 and start defending thier ride when it fact, 99% of people on this forum lift their trucks for looks not for functionality, but primarily for looks. So stop asking, good for you, you own a 4X4, how often do you use it? My point exactly. I lifted my 2WD because it looks good and it belongs to me.
IF you know how to drive, a 2wd will go a lot of places a 4wd will. I knew a guy who lifted his 2wd Ram, and he got nothing but crap from people with 4wd's. His excuse was he couldnt afford a 4wd, but with the price of his truck, and the $3500 he put into it to make it look like one.......
I have lifted EVERY vehicle i have ever owned. I had a 96 Ranger 2wd with 36's on it. It had alot of fender missing to make them fit. and i was comfortable going ANYWHERE my buddies would go in 4x4. However i got stuck very often. The 4 banger would only do so much and even with a good gear ratio in the back it would still get bogged down easily.
I can honestly say that some of the stuff i went though with that truck my F15O would have trouble going though in 4x4 do to weight and stock gearing. I love the fact that i wheeled in a 2wd to start cause that taught me how to drive. After i broke the Rancho/ Tough Country/Rough Country (cant remeber the brand but ive broke all 3 brands) i took the lift off and gave the truck to my sister. Then i bought a 88 Bronco II that i lifted about 9" and had 35's on it. thats when i broke the other 2 lifts before i got the skyjacker. I really wish i had an intrest in taking pictures back then i could have a whole album of offroad related incidents.
2wd's can be capable offroaders but ill take my 4x4 any day. Heck half the time im i never wheel in 4x4.

skeeter thats one way to look at it, but a thread like this winds up being an eye opener for some.
Haters come and go. Nobody here really gives a crap about their opinions because they have a bad attitude and talk down to others.
Lots of people modify their stock truck in some way. They find their way here and join this forum. Once they start reading and learning, They get a lot of ideas from other members and decide to "build" their existing ride into something they see here- be it a Harley, or a lowered street truck, or a lifted truck.
I dont have a newer body style truck, but I modified and lifted what I already had- based on what I learned and saw from members here. I see a lot of 2wd lifted trucks here that put my 4wd to shame and I definitely give them the thumbs up and appreciate what they have done.
Modifying what youve got, to(tastefully) look or perform like something other than stock should be looked upon with some degree of respect. Its a big part of why this board is succesful.
Dont listen to the idiots, they wont stick around long
