yes a tuner will be needed to corect your speedo and to alow the tranny to shift at the right points, gears are not a must do but you will lose power and couse stress on the tranny i recomend regearing when going up in tire size to anything over a 33" what gearing are you curently running and what is the tire size you want to run and i could give you my opinion on what gearing you will need to get close to stock or alittle above it for added power lost due to a heaver rim tire combo

with a 35" tire your tranny would be under alot of stress and it would be under alot of load in city driving with 35" tires 4.56 would put you alittle over stock about 100-200 rpms over what you have now with stock tires and gears you would lose about 2 mpg or less on the highway but would most likely gain 1 mpg in the city, with 35" i would definatly regear to relieve the stress on the tranny and regain lost performance

Big Truck nailed it, I am running stock gears 3.73 with 285/75/16's with aftermarket wheels and felt a noticeable loss of power after lift and tires were on, I can't imagine running 35's with no gear change....well yes I can, go climb into a Hynduai, take one of the hamsters out of the wheel, i.e. engine and drive around town, with a couple of fat chicks in the back...probably be about like that
Good Luck, let us know what ya do and be sure to post the pictures.
Incidently, take a look at the cost of regearing, that all but talked me out of it, 4x4 also means you get to do both ends.
