Question Order date

I placed my order Feb/28/00, and my build date is still "TBD". The next column over shows "Rev Spec". My salesman is away this week, and the secretary couldn't explain what this means (it's a small dealership, and the other salesman was tied up). Does anyone know what this means? Has anyone else placed an order in February, and still not received a build date? I've ordered a green and gold two-tone Lariat, all options except the entertainment system, moonroof and captain's chairs.

We both have the same order date. My dealer says they are only notified of build dates on Tuesdays. Why I don't know, maybe Ford only updates it's records once a week??? I'm still waiting also.

I ordered mine on 2/25. I don't think my dealer submitted the order to Ford until sometime the next week. However, they are still telling me they don't have a build date yet. ;-( My sales rep is happy to inquire for me, but all he does is ask the manager who tells him "no new info". Frustrating to say the least. Anyone got an inside connection who can explain the process and steps that take place once a dealer submits an order to Ford?

------------------
On order: 2001 Supercrew 4X4 Lariat - Oxford White w/ Parchment Interior, 5.4L, Trailer Tow Pckg, 3.55 Limited Slip, Moonroof, Cabsteps, 6 Disc CD, Leather Captains Chairs with console, Bed Extender, Engine block heater, 2 Tone Paint.

The only info I can offer (from my dealer), is that each dealer is allocated a certain number of vehicles per week, and they are prioritized by the dealer. My dealer has 1 or 2 allocated every 1-2 weeks. Mine was number 2 to be built (but without a date), until the production delay allowed another Supercrew in ahead of mine (it didn't have a delay). I plan to check back with them on Saturday to see if there is any more news.

Stopped by dealer today-still no build or ETA date. But was told Ford updates their list two times a week-Monday night and Friday night. So dealer can get updates/printouts on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Does this agree with what anyone else was told?

Question

LRM_

I also had the VPOC #. I got the dealer number and had the Vin #. Everything going well until the recording asked this- "enter the first two numbers of the vehicle vin, USING THE FORD DECODER sheet"!!!!
Don't have the "decoder ring" so I was stumped at that point. How do you get around that, speak to a live person or what??

BTW- I received Tim's R&D peice in the mail. Interesting. I will provide more info/opinion once I speak with him to answer a couple of questions. Has potential.

Supercrew ordered 2/1, build date 3/13, eta 2 1/2 to 3 weeks after build date

My dealer has never told me anything useful about the status of my order. All the info I have I get by calling the VOPC (Vehicle Order Processing Center) directly. I ordered on January 19 with a priority code of 45 (that's low; I must have a low allocation dealer). My truck was "clean and unscheduled" for a month. In late Feb it was listed as "temporary delay in production." Now, the VOPC tells me it is scheduled to be built the week of April 3. I can only hope that this is correct info.

To use the VOPC, you need your 5-digit dealer code (it's on the DORA, ignore letters) and a VIN. If you don't have a VIN (I don't), using option 2, you can get status by entering the year of the vehicle (2001), the body style (9108 for a 4wd, 9107 for a 2wd) and the order number (also on the DORA). The VOPC # is 800-962-3746. It's not updated all that often (only three times since late January), but, it's my best source for info

Cool

F150 supercrew, After dialing the VOPC, type in the dealer number. After the dealer number, press 2. This route will bypass the VIN#. Read LRM's post above, he explains everything.

Wink

If Ford knew how much pain and agony they were causing with all of us worrying about how long we have to wait to get our trucks, they would put up a WEB site where one could retieve the build status of any order. All you should need is the dealer # and VIN.

Woody-
You're right, so flustered with trying the VPOC # a month ago, I failed to notice "go to 2". Funny though, I tried again last night....they ask for you order #...thought I was in ...BUT..."no information, transferring you to an advisor". (the recording did mention the decoder crap agin??!!, but maybe just a blip) I know it had a 13 march build date. Oh well, wife will have to keep putting up with me driving her truck!!!

Just my 2 cents but I don't think there is a magic decoder. There is just a way of getting a letter to a number using the telephone keyboard. W is the first letter on 9 key on the telephone hence the code 9 and 1 equals W. Then the same for any other letter.

By the way my Crew was ordered in early January, I followed the VOPC as my only contact with my mystery vehicle just as you guys are now and went thru all the same delays, wrong buttons, transfers to an analyst (which I always hung up on 'cause I thought I wasn't supposed to be on the system anyway), transfers to rail carrier and arriving at the ramp and finally delivered to destination. Somehow my Crew arrived at the dealer on the 13th of March like the VOPC promised. But I have an extra wrinkle from you guys! Now I get to track it on the Matson Steamship Line web site for the next two weeks 'til it gets here in the mid Pacific. It's like waiting for a baby!!

Anyway hang in there, things will work out - now I just have to figure out the back seat comfort question (another thread):-). Can't tell you how much it has helped having all you other similarly crazed people on the board for support. Thanks for being out there.

SuperCrew:
Talked to my dealer on Saturday - he says the build date is only updated Tuesdays. Maybe it's a Canadian thing, eh?

The wait goes on!!!

I'm glad I ordered mine when I did. Order date was Jan 21. I received mine on Feb 16. I guess my order missed all the delays. The ETA was the week of Feb 21. I got lucky and received mine early. Just for comparisons I ordered XLT 4x4 w/ the 5.4L. Captain chairs, 3.55 ls, oxford white (single tone), skid plates. I hope the information helps you guys figure out why your trucks are taking so long. Good Luck and believe me the wait will be well worth it.

Like alot of you, I went down to the local dealership to check out a Supercrew that just came in. I noticed that it had a Feb. 22 build date on it and arrived here in Northern Calif. on March 17. Gives an idea of the lag time between the two. Still waiting........

VPOC says mine is locked in for build week of 3/20 and scheduled for delivery week of 4/3. That means that they are building it this week... this WEEK! They're building my truck this wee-eek!... They're building my truck this wee-eek!... They're ...
I gotta go take my medication now. Bye
