05 150 Rear End Clunk

I've got a 05 150 Supercrew with a 3.55 and it has a mildly annoying clunk when I get back into the gas after rolling through a turn.

Is this normal or do I have an issue? If it's typical I can live with I guess bit if it isn't I'd sure like to get rid of the clunk.

My 05 4x4 has been at the dealership 30 + days

Hi, my 05 F150 4x4 has been at the Dealership since 6-15-05 for the third and last time. I had the same problem, a clunk when coming off the gas and alot of times when going into o/d. They have tried everything and I will not accept it back. It is not normal for a vehicel to do that. They either need to take all that technology out of the cars or get some technology that works. 40 plus days and they can't get it right...Good luck and get an lemon law attorney right away...

That's great, thanks for the reply. I would agree that is not normal, far from it but it is a lease and I only find it mildly annoying like I said. I'm taking it in for the re-flash and an oil change soon so I'll ask the techs about it. If they can fix it great, if not I won't take the time to mess with it I'll just drive it.

Good luck to you I hope you get a solution. I love the truck other than the clunk. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Anyone else have this problem or are yours clunk free?

Yep, same thing here on my 2004. They have said it is the tranny. After 8 times to the dealer, no fix. I finally sent a letter to Ford today demanding a fix, or i'll get an attorney.

My personal 05' is absolutely flawless thusfar (10k or so on the ticker)...

My company truck, an 05' SuperCrew XLT thunks mildly on some take-offs... Since it's a fleet lease, I haven't made a big deal out of it yet... I can relate to it though.

Are you sure it's the rear end, not the transmission? Mine occasionally thunks on the 3-2 downshift, and that might be what happens when you come out of a turn. It doesn't do it all the time, and others here have noted the same issue, so I'm not too concerned. It doesn't seem to affect longevity, at least as far as anyone has reported. Hey, my '05 Screw turned 350 miles today! Got its first hand-wax, too. Think I'll go celebrate!

Could be a "Slip Yoke" problem

sounds like the slip yoke is not slipping. There is a TSB for this problem.
They pull the driveshaft and grease the slip yoke, however, it will probably come back again.

Stainless steel slip yokes help with this problem too.

When you refer to "slip yoke," is that a splined yoke that slides into the rear of the transmission?
