Question which sleeper car to choose?

I love having a supercharged F150 because it is a sleeper vehicle, cops and people don't expect anything so I don't get any attention, which I find great.

Next year I'd like to add another vehicle, a car, that could do 11sec 1/4 mile, at first I wanted a mustang cobra, but I think it is too much of an obvious choice.
I know police would be onto me for anything.

My question is, which car would you recommend me getting that doesn't appear like a fast car and if possible awd?

I was thinking of a wrx or sti or anything 4wd/awd, thoughts?
I don't really care about comfort, I just want to have the wow effect when I floor it..

An sti would be a good choice, just keep the exhaust quiet.

You meant an 03/04 Cobra right? Not a newer GT500. Trying to get a picture of what you're looking at

What Flex can go 0-60 is 6 seconds flat?

The AWD is key for those TLs, my old 06 torque-steered pretty badly, but it was pretty quick.

Huh, that's actually very interesting.

But widj, German cars are all great sleepers, they're just absurdly expensive to mod versus an American or Japanese car. Trailblazer SS's are fast and have a massive aftermarket because of the LS under the hood, but I guess that's kind of another truck. G8 GTs look very unassuming with I believe 451 HP under the hood. CTVs too.

Is it bad that everything I'm mentioning is a GM? new Taurus SHO

I was going to say that when I saw this thread.

OP I was really into sleepers a while back. The Volvo mentioned above is a great choice, so is the TL. The old supercharged Buicks can attain big numbers pretty easily, and that is the most unassuming car of all time. An old SHO would be sweet, those can be had for a few grand around here. The STI screams attention, but maybe thats just me. You could do an old c43 or c32 AMG. The 32 is supercharged and the 43 is v8. Or an e39 540i/m5. I could do this all day lol

If you want 11s and EVO will do it easier then an STI. I love STIs. If big power is what you want an STI drivetrain will handle power better then WRX. Pontiac G8 GXP is 415hp and GT is 360. The new SS sedan is the same thing as the GXP. The Chrysler SRT8 is sleeper as its not as muscle looking at the Charger SRT8. The 300s all look about the same. Tuned SHOs with the ecos will run 12s but run out of injector pump quick. Could always do a Lexus GS300 with a Supra 2JZ. The new Hyundai Genesis coupe with the 2.0 is the same engine they use in the Lancer Evos. Apparently with few mods they can make insane power and be very fast. Being a Hyundai no one expects it. I highly recommend then Hyundai. Look at some YouTube videos and cruise some forums but small car, rwd and huge aftermarket.

I have a few others but trying to only recommend cars that don't break the bank to maintain or fix meaning no German stuff etc

The old SHO's were great sleepers. 14 sec 1/4 miles and 0-60 in the 6 second range. The new ones run 12's with just a tune. I miss my 99 to this day. That 32V V8 sounded ferce with Borla's underneath. Remove the speed limiter and 156mph was topped out. Factory set was 144mph. Up'd the shift points to just over 7,000 rpm's. Car cornered like nothing I've ever driven. Quick strut mod allowed lowering of 3/4" on all four corners. Here's a few pics of mine.

The V-8 SHO had some major engine reliability issues though. It's an interference engine and it had bad cam sprockets from the factory.

Yep. Had my sprockets tig welded before anything happened. Other then that they were sound motors and nearly bullet proof. The V6 SHO's from 89-95 were capable of 10,000rpms. They were awesome. Especially with the manual trans option.

The new SHO's are amazing. I would love to have one. Some running 12.0 at 114-117 with typical bolt on's.

The Challenger SRT's are quick rides as well but unless you remove the SRT badging they aren't really sleepers.

I understand this forum is just about F150, so I'm just going to say that this thread is not so off topic because I believe that a F150 is a sleeper, and by analogy we should be able to find a similar vehicle to go with it, a car capable of doing about the same

I've been googling a few hours yesterday and I couldn't find an american V8 AWD vehicle that is not too new

The only car that would fit perfectly is the Audi S4 from 2005 with the quattro and its 300HP+ but it is too expensive to me

Is there a way to have an AWD or 4WD maybe a light SUV? that could keep the 4WD drivetrain at full speed? (usually we can't drive past 50 mph on 4WD, the idea here is to have a great traction)

The newer Acura TL do have AWD but too expensive

Budget is around 10-15K

The reason why I'm trying to insist on AWD or 4WD is that for some of our trucks, can switch from 2WD to 4WD which is great in snow, or difficult driving conditions.

Irons1n, you're right, 361 HP. I just remembered that it was some number (19) squared and didn't bother to even think about/check it like an idiot

The trailblazer SS is available with rwd and awd like you want. That's exactly what I would be getting if I could choose. They're still pretty darn expensive though. At least all the ones at my dealership have been expensive, but they're all low miles and good shape.

Do you really need awd though? Cause you'll still have your truck if you get off the highway or something in the winter, but I don't know if you're in a more rural area.

And is this sleeper deal more of a preference for you, or do you legitimately not want to be on cops' radars? I would think a Mustang, etc would be fun and the truck can be the sleeper. It's like these two vehicles will be satisfying the same sleeper function/role, instead of branching out and having different functions.
