When I purchased my XCAL from troyer it took forever to get it. When I did get it It wouldn't even power up. I had to send it back and wait 3 more months to get the new one. When I installed the custom tune I was far from impressed and very unhappy with a 485.00 paperweight. I ended up going to Force Fed Performance to fix it. The A/F ratio was off by insane amounts. Stoich is 14.7 and when my tuner look at it on the dyno he got off the gas really fast and said the A/F was as close to burning valve as you can get at 20.9 . He asked what IDIOT gave me a tune/program that F;D up.

At least you were able to catch yours before it burnt the valves up. I wasn't so lucky, and it got 3 of mine after completely melting multiple spark plugs. BTW which were Iridium plugs that Procharger said not to run in the first place. Guess Troyer was above reading the directions or making a simple phone call.

I used to have an edge tuner before getting the Roush blower with a custom tune from php and the tune was day and night from stock

edit: my custom tune took over 5 months to get ready and I had to call and email so many times to get it processed..
Troyer tune will be obviously bad. On the whipples you get horrible power surges. When you press on the gas and keep your foot still the truck will randomly fall on its face then over accelerate then fall on its face again.

First time I drove my truck I actually laughed and thought maybe something was wrong that maybe he made a goof in the tune some where. After calling him and him saying "that's how it is" I was pissed. While waiting half a year for my tune I ordered a VMP tune and got it very quick. Three data logs later it was perfect on the street.

I don't know of anyone and a twinscrew blower (whipple or saleen) with a troyer tune that didn't have the same issue I had. Almost all the S331 Saleen guys went JDM and I did too eventually.

With all that said, I still haven't heard any complaints on Troyers Roush tune as it controls throttle differently using the old IMRC connector to help smooth the acceleration. Anyway I think you'll be happy with your truck once its all said and done but I would be curious in an update when it is.

Ok....my question is this. Troyer used to be the patriarch of tuning around this place...why isn't he defending himself in the least bit? Is it purely legal or just plain got caught being shady?

Crash, i have told you before, you just dont post things that could get legal, you give away your power and defense.

wow, $15 to $20k on a 97, 4.6 with 2v heads and he is upset over exhaust alignment and 15 dyno pulls.
Your right about the 15 to 20k part. I was quoted around 7 to 8 when I talked to him before ever taking truck to shop. Troyer is the one who stayed with 2v motor, which cost me almost 9 grand btw. You make it sound like my truck is a pile of junk and not worth wasting money on. It's not gonna win best in show anywhere but its far from junk. BUT I can't argue that yeah, it was a lot of money to spend on it.

How long would it take to change a pulley on a Roush s.c.

I talked to someone at troyers a little while back(long before I ever heard about this thread and jbravo's problems)and I thought the labor rate to install it was high.

Its a 6 hour dr for me to go to troyers so i never actually have anything done by him, I have ordered a set of brisk plugs from him though.

So I picked up my truck today and drove about 125 miles mostly highway

Well so far so good, but to be honest I was expecting more..

this time I had a 2.8 pulley, a porting and a custom tune from Troyer so I wanted the thing to fly but it didn't happen

I can't do rolling burnouts, and I'm not getting much tire spin, or maybe my tires have a really good grip lol

I have a local dyno place but they will only have room from the 2nd week of September

I heard you guys to ask me to watch some temperature or else but I do not have any 3rd party gauges, could you please recommend me what to get?

Thanks..!

Below 20-30mph depending on road my truck easily spins the tires. What did the truck make for power

What paperwork did you receive regarding the tune like graphs, charts or anything with numbers on it? How long was your truck at the shop, and what work did they do to your truck besides the tune. Was your bill reasonable and did it make sense? Not surprised about your low power output though. He tried to squeeze all he could out of mine while not knowing anything about overspinning a Procharger with the wrong size pulley. And we all know how that worked out.

ok here we go..

back in March I dyno the truck in WA state that had the roush tune:

today, so 5 months later, I dyno the truck in BC (canada) the only differences are that I've had a 2.8 pulley, a blower port from stiegemeir and the custom tune from Troyer and my torque is now lower but the truck feels faster

the dyno shop in BC did 2 pulls with Drive and overdrive off while I told them to put gear 2 and over drive off per Troyer recommendation, the dyno guy told me that drive is better for my truck

they also told me that I should remove the kenne bell fuel boost pump that troyer told me to install because when it will fail it will damage things and that I should get an upgraded fuel pump

I don't understand why opinions are so different in mechanic, to me it is kind of science right?

I think I recorded the datalog properly with no load and load, I sent it to Troyer and see what they think

Thoughts?

I would ask for a copy of your dyno sheet in standard or sae form. The one you posted is uncorrected. Also what boost
level are you at?

I have the 2 files in .drf and I can open them with winpep, is that what you mean? how is it incorrect?

I asked for boost but he told me that his gauge was broken and that he was waiting for the new one, bad coincidence eh
