autometer boostguage install questions

i am installing my autometer boost/vac guage and I am unsure of the best manifold vaccuum source i need to use for the hollow tube????




this is how i have it tied in now:



or should It go here:




just want to ensure I have it hooked up right. just want to see the vacume now VS later with the boost

well that will only read vacuum, you need to get the pressure off a vacuum line on the pressure side, preferably as close to the blower as possible.

I just want to enure it reads vacuum and that the guage actually works

Hey how do you like your guage pod. I was thinking of getting one how was the install was it a replacement part or is it slip over the stock cover ? Will the black color it comes as match or did you have to paint it ?

i have my boost gauge in a steering pod, it matches perfectly.

01lightingsuper: it matches and looks factory installed. I will take a picture of the black slip on piece tomorrow in the daylight so you can decide it it will work for you

built5.4 where did you tie in the power and ground wiring for the lights??

Thanks.... just use a test light and find you a good - to tap into (I think mine were taped in to a ground that is by the drivers side kick panel and is screwed to the body)..For the + when I first got my truck they were taped in to the headlight switch but just recently I taped into my dimmer switch I like it better that way... the panel that headlight/dimmer control is in will just pry out with a screwdriver just get a test light and you should be ok

here's what it looks like after dark:





pull out your light switch and tap into the #12 and #6 wires should be a brown and the other one black

black is the ground and the brown is the power relay so your boost guage light works off of your light switch
