ALPINE SPR-17S or Polk Audio MMC5250

Alpine type-R (SPR-17S) or Polk Audio MMC5250 which would you choose? They seem pretty similar. And dont tell me Rainbow.

Im thinking about doing type r's all around...coaxials in the rears, components in the fronts

or should i even bother with the rears?

They are fairly similar. I've run a lot of Polk MOMOs and been pretty happy with them. Fair warning, though, they take a lot of power to sound good. If you run them off of a HU you will wish you stayed stock...but blast them with 150rms and they scream and sound great.

I used to run a single pair of MOMO 6x9s in my Ranger with (3) 12w6v2s and the first comment I usually got was not how insane the bass was (which it was), but how "clean" it sounded. When I told people I only had 1 pair of speakers they all called BS until I showed them my rear speakers consisted of polyfill

Why 650?

I listen to rock/rap. I like SQ over loudness. I do have friends in the back on occasion.

I would bi-amp a single pair of MMC650s in the front doors and leave out the rear fill for sure. A set of MOMOS properly bi-amped and powered will be plenty for a supercab truck.

Because then it will be a component set. And the 6.5s will have more midbass then the 5.25s.

Ok these should be a good match for you.

If you want your friends to have spks in their ears or ever plan on doing surround sound for DVDs then I reccommend rear spks. But if not one set is plenty.

what is bi-amp? Is that just 2-channel?

Sounds good. Im debating whether to get the mmc650s or just pull the trigger on the rainbows. yes the rainbows are better but yes they are more expensive.

Do the 650s come with tweeters and crossovers?

yeah bi-amped is just 2 channel. Thats what im gonna do, im just gonna run the 6.5" MOMO components (yes they come with crossovers and tweeters) off the amp and then run a pair of alpine type-s 5x7s off the headunit for rear fill.

By bi-amping, is he referring to 2 channels or is he referring to running them active?

Type X's can be bi-amped using a 4ch amp with 1 ch to each tweeter and mid

Yeah, I understand that, but somebody said above that bi-amping just means two channels.
