Im out in the sticks, 20 miles south of a little town called Ewing. Up in the northeast part of the state. The most recognizable city around here is Norfolk, Im about 70 miles southwest of there if you know where that is

Where you moving to?

And today I was excited. Started on the box and it was going smooth, I was thinking Ill definatley have this in and wanging by the end of the day. Well, come time to put in the tnuts and it turns out Im 4 nuts and bolts short

Im not sure what happened. Im positive I got all of what I needed, so I either layed some down somewhere, the lady at the register didnt see them, or I dont know. Im have to head to a different town tomorrow and Im hoping there is a store there that will have them, doubtful though.

But anyway, I just need to get my nuts and bolts, then stick the front and sides on and its ready to go except for some prettyfication. If I can get nuts and bolts I might have everything in by Saturday night (yeah right).

But then I need to find a way to angle my componets upward. At least the tweeters. I farking hate having the vocalist sound like hes in my crotch. Need to raise my soundstage up, its driving me insane the way it is.

It should be around Omaha. Just north of it I believe. It's still in the cards, nothing in concrete as os yet. I think I will miss my trees and hills. Oh yea, and the moonshine!

Cool. I have some cousins and freinds that live in and around Omaha. If you do make it maybe we could meet up some time, and a couple other Nebraskans on here.
Head up north here and you can find yourself some pretty potent moonshine. Bout knock ya out just looking at it

Can you angle the tweets so they move the soundstage upwards? i am going to be installing components this weekend.. i was eyeing up the side window defrost area for a possible install as well, the closer to eye-level the better with tweeters..

the human ear isnt as sensitive to vertical spatial locilazation as it is horizontal, in other words stick em in the stock location in the door, it doesnt hurt to test different locations first, closer to the mid is usually the best tho

Yes, it will help pull the soundstage up. This is hopefully all I will need to do to get my soundstage where I want it (on my dash).
Its all I had to do in my old truck to raise it up. I had the mids and tweets mounted like they are in these trucks...down in the door panel, pointed straigh across from each other. By simply using some angle mounts that came with the tweets it raised it up right where I wanted it, and also added a little depth for my by angling them back some.

Mounting the tweets up high will also raise it, but I prefer rather to have them mounted close to the mids, as styx stated, and angle them some if need be.

Got a little more done today. I was actually able to get some more tnuts and bolts yesterday, so I have the box constructed and all sealed up, but it needs a lot of cosmetic work. Im going to be sanding for awhile. I believe it might be one of the ugliest boxes before prepping Ive ever made, but that doesnt matter to much. But its ugly enough looking now that I didnt take any pics. That sumbish takes up a whole lotta room in the cab too lol.

I did get the amps in 'final' for the most part. They just need some cleaning up and the wires need tidied (is that a word) up a litle bit, but thats pretty much it. I would have liked to hide the wires and stuff a litle more, but there really wasnt a much better way to do it. Some day I will paint the nuts and bolts satin black too. Anywho, here are some cr@ppy pics...

Wow that is a nice install! I wish these damn supercrews had that amount of room behind our seats!

I would hide my wiring, but you know after you dump that much cash, you kinda want to show it off. lol

Good thread. Glad to see you've worked through most of your problems.

As for the ground loop noise, if I read it correctly you do plan on running new ground and power wires for the head unit- good call. I always do that, and then run that back to the same location where my amps are grounded. I ALWAYS use a single ground location for the entire system to eliminate ground loop. Any time I have ever tried cutting corners and not doing that, I got noise.

After using a common point I have NEVER had any ground loop noise.

Oh, nice amps. I just got rid of the Arc Audio 4150 and 1500 to a friend. MEAN amps.

Thanks guys.

Yes Lumadar, I am running all new wire for the HU. I might try grounding the HU to the floorboard first. I had it like this in my '99 with no problems. If I do still have some noise it will be grounded back with the amps though.

I just realized how dirty and crappy everthing looks in those pics Oh well.
