Custom Kicks 04 F-150

Well after many hours of laying glass, sanding bondo and many fittings into the truck, they are finally done.

These are CDT HD-62 comps. The sound is amazing and I keep getting more and more pleased with every tweak. The enclosure is .2 ft3 and completly sealed. I am noticing a little low in the rta around 500 hz and am thinking about trying the hole in the bottom, but will mess with them like this for a while. The entire kicks are backed with Dynamat.

I highly recomend these comps to anyone in the market for a great sounding speaker.

How is the bass/midbass with the sealed kicks? Any nasty resonance points or peaks? Frequency extension?

The bass-mid bass is extremly clean. It's hard to believe they are just 6.5". Adding them really ballanced off the system and made the preasure coming off thefront very close to the same feel as the preassure coming off the subs. Best $250 I've spent on the system yet.

No nasty resonances. They RTA very flat and are very ballanced from low volumes all the way up.

They look real nice. Good Job on em

So how do they image? How's the depth? They appear to be positioned well so you should be getting a pretty well defined stage.

They image real nice. I would say they are getting out way past the windshield somewhere around the middle of the hood. Still listening to a bunch of diff music trying to get the gains and x-over points all ironed out. The mid-bass is unbelievable. Still planning on adding the image enhancement tweets on the pillars. That should really get the band sitting out on the bumper.

Definatley hearing lots of sounds that were not coming through on the diamonds.

Thanks for the compliments! I'd say there is around 30-40 hours on these things and lots of sticky hands in between. I could have taken the finish a little further but for something that is going to get kicked around like they will be, they are more than enough.

Got 400 miles of road trips this weekend. They should be dialed in by monday

Looks great. As much of a fan of great audio as I am, I couldn't put something like that down where my feet could kick it. And in the winter with snow and slush.....forget it.

Roush, I agree, they rock! Did you put em in the doors?

Red, I have no problem avoiding them with my size 12's. They are actualy up above the floor and have steel grates to protect them. I'm lucky living down here in the desert, there is no such thing as snow or slush??? More like sand and rattle snakes.

I finally got the gains all ironed out and they flat out rock. No peaky screamin highs and nice solid mid bass. Very much worth my time and effort building the enclosures for them. Couldn't be happier. Now I ought to make a mold and see if I could move a few. There a great design and the E brake even still clears.

Image enhancement kit will be next on the list.

Sweet!

I just still can't believe this all started with " I'll just throw a box under the back seat and put a little power to it" Should have known I couldn't leave it alone.
