Sirius Sportster Install/pics

Just installed my Sirius Sportster Replay to my new ALPINE CDA-9853 Head unit. The Sportster is Hard wired to my Alpine via a WIRED FM MODULATOR RELAY from www.circuitcity.com ($20) This relay takes the place of the wireless antenna supplied with the new sportster, connects to your head unit via the antenna port, just unplug your antenna from the back and put it into the relay, then plug the relay into the head unit antenna port, works great, no static. The Sportster is mounted using a Proform mount out of my cousins 97 Expo. it was used to mount his cell phone. (it has several holes for mounting choices).

Nice install! I just picked up a Sporster Replay this weekend to replace an Xact unit. I am trying to figure out how to mount mine in my 05.

Regards!

1st, ZAXJAX, my best friend has XM and I prefer Sirius programing over it. The only way I would ever go XM is if Howard switches...basically never.
Thanks for the kind words though.

Hey KCward, I got lucky with mounting my Sportster, since I basically stumbled upon that PROFORM mounting adapter in my cousin's 97 Exp. which had a cell phone mounted to it (not working). So I yarded the whole set up and kept the mounting bracket, it's for a 97 FORD but it works in my 02 Screw. The enclosed suction mount is F'n worthless, or its just my 02 windshield, wouldn't stay anywhere, I really wanted to use it in the lower left corner of the front windshield just above the dash, which would have been out of the way and all wires would've been hidden under the A pillar. You should be able to find some different mounting solutions on EBAY - etc.
Good luck.

Oh Kcward, Spend the xtra $20 and get the WIRED FM MODULATOR RELAY, it is 100 times better than that foot long wireless antenna that comes with your Sportster an no friggin' static to screw up your favorite tunes......worth the $$$$$.

I have the same mount as you do, but I don't have the FM wired modulator. Is it possible to use that connection with the factory 6 disc changer? Mine's a 2003 F-150.

Thanks!

Hey KCWARD, FOUND A MOUNT FOR YOU. BELOW

http://www.gbxdirect.com/store/swive...04&yearto=2005

oK, msugeotech, ABSOLUTELY YOU CAN USE THE WIRED FM MODULATOR RELAY with your 6 disc changer, the relay plugs into your deck via the fm antenna port, all you have to do is unplug your antenna from the back of your head unit (stock or after market - doesn't matter), plug it in to the modulator, then plug the FM mod. into the back of your deck in the FM antenna port. done, ready to go.

Thanks for the info. I did a "Does this fit my vehicle?" check on Best Buy and it says NO. But I don't see how it wouldn't work. I'll give it a shot, and thanks again!

It says on the tage that an antenna adapter may be required for use. I have never seen the back of a stock 04 - 05 radio so I'm not 100% that it's the same as an 97 - 03 like mine. But it should work other wise.

I called Crutchfield customer service, and the guy told me it would work fine, and no antenna adapter was required. I'm gonna try to pick one up today at Best Buy. Thanks again!

If Bestbuy is out you can try www.circuitcity.com that's where I got mine.

Glad to help.
