sirius sportster install questions.

im am still trying to find a good spot for my sirius sportster receiver in my 2005 f150 fx4. has anyone put their reciever on the dash in the area used to put suglasses and such (the area with the rubber mat). it seems that if you removed the rubber matt, the plastic piece comes out somehow. is this plastic piece easily replaceable if i start drilling holes in it and want to replace it later if i get rid of the reciever?

I don't know how easily replaceable the plastic piece is, but I do know that the mat can cover up some slight "imperfections", so to speak.

Here is where mine is mounted. I used the Pro-fit bracket and a PIE adapter.

That looks like the right part. Might want to just find a wrecked one. Or a different parts website. That tray has a rubber cover, I've got 2 holes in my tray. Just made a slit in the rubber cover for the wires.

The entire bracket is behind the dash, I used the "ball" that attaches to the back of the sportster and stuck that out the front of the dash through the old cig lighter hole. Its sorta hard to explain, but It took me a couple of hours to play with it.

You have to bend and notch the bracket a little and play with the positioning of the bracket behind the dash in order to make everything fit correctly. Unfortunatly I didn't take any pics during the install so basically my whole post was useless :o

I bought a splitter for the power to the Sportster and the PIE unit.
