Went to the Track

So I went out to Richmond Dragway with a bunch of Cobra, GT and Bullitt buddies all forced induction one way or another. I decided to leave the Cobra at home even though I was curious to what she would run (12.5 for sure). I ran the truck with about 20lbs in the bed, spare tire, side mirrors open and about 75lbs of audio equipment. I run my cars like I run them on the street! Turned out okay, I was looking to break into the 13's, I beat 4 out of my 5 opponents. I lost to my buddies Bullitt but he was shocked I kept up, lol. I've got power all day in the low ranges but once I hit about 80-85mph I just coast so I need to hit up Troyer and see what's up. I chased down a 5.0 fox body, that was pretty funny and I bet there's a whole lot of people wanting to buy what appears to be a stock F150, lol. Funny thing is my fastest time was as soon as I got there and that's after the 1hr 30min drive...WTF! I'm taking the Cobra next time!

About mid/high 80's. Got as low as 70's though, even the temp didn't help though. The 5 time slips show that after a 1hr 30min drive she ran faster than sitting for about 30min or so, lol. I know Troyer sells ported blowers now and runs 10psi so I might look into that but I'm going to focus on the Cobra more since she's more capable at this point with a built motor.

yeah I ran with my 150. 2wd, supercab (extended cab), 3.73 w/LSD, stock height and tires. Not sure what else. You can check out some more info on dragtimes.

Reason why I asked is I ran a 14.0 with a 2.19 60' (85 F outside temperature) when I had the same setup as you. However, my truck is probably a little lighter. Now I'm running 10 psi and hoping to get into the 13s. I'm going to wait until it gets a little cooler. Now, the temperature is bruital down here with lots of humidity!

yeah humidity is retarded down here right now. You should get into the 13's with 10psi for sure. As I said before I'm losing power at the 80-85mph range, she just cruises after that. I need some top end so I'll talk with Mike next week and see if there's something we can do without dropping another $1K or more to drop into the 13's.

not sure what the trans had, maybe stock from the times it was running. Yeah I spent the rest of the time working on my reaction, got it down to .4??? which isn't bad but I had a .0467 with my old 97 V6 F150, lol. Thankfully reaction time doesn't determine your 1/4.

yeah I got that one at San Antonio Raceway. Extended cab auto with 4.10's and LSD. Wasn't afraid to jump the light back then I guess. Had to many of my buddies out there this time, lol.

good run. My truck does the same thing after a hour and a half drive I run the first 1/4 and it is usually the best time. I am just guessing here but I think the tires are heated up good from driving the distance and they stick a little better on the first run then after that they have had time to cool down.... just a thought.

Wow... Didn't even break 100mph. That's surprising.

This fall I plan on taking my truck to the track. No reason to run it in this humid heat in houston.

well it might not have been a trans am or it was an early 80s one. my 89 2.8L V6 firebird was rated 17.1@74mph and an 82 5.0L trans am was slower than that. if you had a pic i could tell you what it was. but 82-85 or 86 they were 305ci. you could beat them on you kid's power wheel. same with my 89 firebird lol. my 08 f150 4.2L is way wuicker than my firebird was. and i also had a 96 trans am which was rated 14.0@101mph but ive never taken anything to the track. working on it for my 08 f150 but not sure if ill get there. its pretty far away and i want to race my buddy's truck but the track is open wednesday night(im off work every wednesday) and my buddy has to work so hes gonna have to take off or ill just go myself
