Getting More Power - 94' 5.8L

Anyone had any luck getting some significant power improvements out of a 94 ish 5.8L ??? I mean way beyond headers and cold air intake stuff. How did you get around the MAF computer?

if it has been converted to MAF you already have gained some power. if you want serious power you're gonna need to build the motor. bore it out, cams, bla bla bla. I was happy with the power we got out of our 91 with adding longtube headers, and deleting the emissions system. (wouldn't recommend an emissions delete.) First take a pic of the engine bay and post it to show us if it has MAF or Speed Density.

Need to know if it has a MAF conversion or if it's Speed Density (SD).

Cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, ignition coil, air filter and fuel filter.
Bump timing to 14*, 91 octane or better fuel required.
Headers and dual exhaust.
130 amp alternator upgrade, new hi-amp charging cable and electric fan.
A Punisher street valve body (VB).

MAF is first, it will handle some basic power adders well. Intake, Heads, cam, headers, and exhaust.

Then you need a tuner to get more. Moates Quarterhorse or Tweecer

Definitely a tuner to get way more, like to stroke it or to add boost. Don;t forget the fuel pump and larger injectors

Then the rear end and tranny better be up to the task.

Sure there are and two forums to back them up!

Tweecer:
product - http://www.tweecer.com/index.htm
Forum - http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/tweecer/messages

Moates Quarterhorse:
Product - http://www.moates.net/quarterhorse-for-fords.html
Forum - http://eectuning.org/forums/

Plenty of help, you can get a driveway tune based on your build, and go from there....................................become a tuner!

Sorry guys, I meant to say Speed Density - the OEM set up. A couple years back I went looking around and found that there was virtually nothing that could be done to add significant power as long as it retained the Speed Density air flow system. I was also unable to find any type of conversion system. I thought I would check to see if any progress has been made in recent years with this set up. I installed a set of shorty headers, dual exhaust, K&N cold air intake, throttle spacer and for a time even ran a Hypertech chip but if all of these add on did anything it was negligible. I took the chip out a couple years back to go back to using regular gas. I would really like to get this motor up to 350-400hp - without resorting to a blower..

Pull motor, insert 460 or 7.3L.
