Cool Top Speed

I have a 1995 Xlt 302 manual I got my truck up to speed and it shut off so I pulled the fuse for the speedometor and damn that truck can fly I went to a track and had my friend clock me my trucks top speed is 145MPH at stock parts. I hate the tailgate up and I don't have any after market crap on my truck just ford. Does any one know what is the top speed for the newer trucks is or just if 145 is the top speed?????

Hey guys, long time no see.

I hate to call you out on this but i find it hard to believe that a stock 4wd will pull 145 mph. Why would pulling the fuse for the speedo have anything to do with the top speed? No flame intended im just interested thats all.

Question

gear ratio? type of track? clocked by what? I've ran that speed before, and I would not even consider riding in a 95 4X4 at that speed. Interesting concept though.

Cool

Also an interested fact is that the computer controls the motor on the RPM & Speed limiters, not the speedo. I have gotten mine up to 100 mph and the truck didn't cut out. It was still going strong but I had some overpasses coming up so I knew that I wouldn't go any faster. If you don't beleive me then pose this comment to Mike Troyer in the computer chip section and he will better explain the situation. Most trucks will not go to far past 100 mph because of the computer limiters that is built into the coding. Now add a superchip and the top speed limiter is cleared out and the RPM limiter is increased.

Max Worried about a 4x4, what about a 20 ft. long truck.

My gear ratio is 3.05 limited slip I have regular PC set up I was on a straitaway I Don't have all the stuff you could put on the truck all stock. its a reg cab all I can say is that it moves and thats the speed I was clocked at . The truck shut off when i reached 100MPH I pulled the speedometer fuse but i also takes out the inside light and the cab light. I have a police record to justify that my truck can reach these speeds 135MHP in NJ.

Something , definatly is not right , considering a 95 Mustang GT with a 5.0 and 5 speed had a top speed of 138 mph ungovered , a 92 mustang with 225 hp 5.0 , and 5 speed has a top speed of 136, there is NO way a stock 302 f150 4X4 lwb ,with less hp and more weight , will out run a mustang .I mean my god a new lightning hits 139 reved to the limit !

With 3.08s, that would be something like 5200 RPM in drive/4th. I can't believe a stock 302 is going to run much over 110 in a 2WD and less than that in a 4WD, regardless of R&P ratio. Too much weight, too much frontal area, aerodynamics ot the proverbial brick, etc. I've a friend with a gen 1 Lightning, and I'm not real sure he can hit 145.

Exactly how did you time this beast?

Question

Izzy-My concern would be one of safety, like speed rated tires, ability to control the vehicle, and safety of others. I've been street racing for 25yrs, so, I've learned a bit. I have a 1998 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo and it feels like it's cruising at extremely high speeds.

My mostly stock 93 lightning (4.10 gears) maxes out at 110 and is electronically limited. I would test your theory about the fuse, but for some reason all the speed traps are setup around town lately. I know some first gen lightning guys have supposedly gotten them up around 145 after removing the speed limiter. These were heavily modded trucks though.

I don't think i'd want to go much more than 110 in this brick though.

MLH , reguardless of what kind of paper you have to prove it , you are defying several laws of aero dynamics and weight , #1 its a 4X4 #2 its a stock 302, #3 its a TRUCK , #4 and most important , you are saying it will go 145 mph which is faster than a mustang of that era which has MORE POWER , and LESS WEIGHT , and is A HELL of a lot more AERODYNAMIC , realisticly you might and I mean MIGHT hit 110 in that thing , but 145 , stock ! NO WAY

have you even Driven a 1995 F150 and have U ever tryed to get it up to speed do I need to take you for a Ride in my truck to show you that what I say is true it may be mathimaticly insane but I do not lie and.I bought this truck new and have proved this before I can and continue to move down the highways and speeds faster then i should be doing.I have beaten MUSTANGS before 4x4 don't mean crap unless you have it on. I may make it heavy but think of this what runs faster a fat man that can't stop or a skinny man who can.
