Dont laugh guys! MLH's story goes hand in hand with a good friend of mine that purchased a 1977 T-bird (special-ordered) from a dealer in Boston, MA. This is a real close related story. My friend stated that whenever his vehicle went to any dealer for service or warranty work; a "special-team "was brought in to axcess his vehicle & do the repairs. My friend was a travelling Salesman at the time. This was part of the agreement when he took delivery of the 77 T-bird--Nobody worked on this vehicle except ford. Then if he took it to a dealer out of his area, he was given a loaner car, until his vehicle was done. This was the best car my friend ever had. He put 190,000 miles in less than 24 months. All he ever paid for was tires. He once told me, "most of the miles on that T-bird were accumulated at well over 100mph".

sorry, its a 4.6 automaitic. i jsut got my superchi ptoday and believe that would affect the outcome but... when i drive the impala i can feel that it accelerates a lot faster then the truck. i have never had the truck above 100 so i dont know how much it would have left after that, but i do know firsthand that the impala will easily do 110. that is a fact, never had it over that but did still have a little left in it.btw, teh tires on teh truck are stock size bfg a/t's. dont knwo if that will affect your opinion or not but take it for what it is.

Hey, I did 120MPH in a 78 Ford Pinto on I-26 on June 1985 just before I went into the USAF. At least I think it was 120. The speedo said 85 and the needle went quite a bit farther. Thought it was worth a laugh

Having been around and built high performance cars and trucks for over 30 yrs.I would say he is full of it,My 91 4x4 with 351(why call it a 5.8,we ain't metric)and E4OD at 85 to 90 is a handful, too much air UNDER the truck and with 4x4 stance there is room for a lot of air

I do development work for Ford Motor Co. I can assure you that a stock F150 with a 302 will NOT do 145. I don't care what hill your going down, what kind of tail wind you have, it is NOT going to even come close. This is matter of fact and the fact that someone would even believe that they can run 145 mph in a stock F150 is beyond funny.

I have been sighted by more than a few dim whitted state troopers as well.

MN99F150...

Great on that Ranger! I had a '98 with the 3.55LS, 4.0, manual, and SuperChip and was running repeatable 7 second 0-60s. Never lost a race to a truck, including some pretty loud-sounding 454s that wanted to try to show me up.

MLH... not sure your speed tester was handling the radar right. My '91 with a 302 won't make much over 90, and the newer 302s did not have all THAT much more power than the 91's. I'd give you 115, tops.

Thumbs up

I have a 00 Lightning with the exception of a K&N replacement filter the truck is completely stock. I have only had the L up to 140mph twice, the last time was today. Even the L is working hard to get anything above 125mph. At 140mph the boost gage is maintaining a steady 8lbs of boost just to keep the truck at 140mph. Although this truck handles better at 140mph, than any car that I have ever driven up to 120mph. I would never attempt those speeds in a high profile 4X4.
I think the only way your 4X4 F150 will ever see 140mph is with the use of your rocketeer’s toy jetpack!
If you got a ticket for that speed, go to court! There isn’t a judge in the world that wouldn’t believe you got duped.

Talking

Gentlemen, please!
Lets not devote an entire week to this (pointless) discussion on whether or not MLH can do 145 in that truck with that particular setup. As a "true" 4x4 owner, I say, it's not HOW FAST you can go, but, WHERE you can go. Personally, my '92 and I have never been over 75mph. We prefer 2 or 3 mph in 4-Low with some mud on the 'shield.
Now then, how about we argue over who's gone thru the deepest mud without gettin stuck?
(just tryin to keep things civil)
Take care and SLOW THE F#CK DOWN !

I hate the tailgate up and I don't have any after market crap on my truck just ford. Does any one know what is the top speed for the newer trucks is or just if 145 is the top speed?????

I am not doubting you, but I am doubting that your truck can do that. The engine is a beast, I know that, but I drive a 2000 Lightning that has a top speed of 140, because of AERODYNAMICS. My L has better aerodynamics than your truck, and it still stops at 140 (according to Motor Trend, Road & Track, etc.). So, you getting to 145 seems a little far fetched.
