My Predictions
My advise is to learn to speak Russian or Arabic, it may serve you well in the near future.
Boy, they are going to be po'd when they realize how deep in debt they are.
Cuts need to be made wisely and some of the wealthier are going to have to pay more to get this thing under control.
I agree with you on the debt but Obama didn't start the debt and Romney would not have ended it. The debt spiral started with Reagan and has continued with 2 Bushes, Clinton and Obama.
Cuts need to be made wisely and some of the wealthier are going to have to pay more to get this thing under control.

Even if you taxed the wealthy 100% of their pay, it only accounts to running the gov't for 2 months. The money isn't there. Quit repeating the democratic talking points about "the wealthy need to pay their fair share" and do some number crunching.
Jealousy of the rich gets one nowhere.
I didn't say that, but senior class projects in the College of Engineering at the University of Arizona repeatedly show businesses, both large and small how they can improve their productivity and increase their bottom line. Those businesses are uniformly grateful in their response for this help. I'm sure the Industrial Engineering department at Georgia Tech has similar "outreach" capabilities. Why don't you investigate this? It doesn't have to cost you a dime and you'll have a non-prejudiced, outside look at your operation - from a top-tier university!
And Frank, I know nothing about your business, because I don't know what it is. I asked once, but you declined to respond. I sort of got the feeling you might be ashamed of it. Maybe that's the problem - you're too shy to promote it properly!

Once America comes fully to terms with Obamacare after it is fully implemented in February or March of 2014 and it's costs, most Americans are going to have serious buyer's remorse. Heck, my parents are retired and their insurance has increased 4 times in the last 18 months for "costs associated with compliance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act".
Every business has to maintain their margins to stay profitable and in business. Insurance companies are no different, and their margins are tighter than mine.
OK, so it is advice and approaches, nothing about implemented as the class project specified.
Raytheon is based in MA, so I don't know how much autonomy the AZ location has to implemented changes local without direction.
Could be a volunteer / intern tax credit for all I know, where they work with several universities and get input and see if any of it would work.
All the while helping out undergrads.
Still go back to what does a undergrad ( or graduate degree ) student know about business in the real world ?
To the end of "working smarter", don't know how this is done on a construction site to the tune of getting 30% more out of employees to cover mandated expenses.
Mom's work just got under the employee requirements, and canceled the ins plan.
- It went up big time since the passing of the health care bill. They gave the employees what the company's share was towards it in the paycheck, and told them obtain it external ( state insurance exchange ).

Frank,
Do you think that spending more on defense and wars is going to cut the debt?
I certainly don't think taxing the wealthy at 100% will fix it. Do you think eliminating Social Security and Medicare that we all paid into will fix all?
I would replace Obamacare with a true universal healthcare program based on Medicare. It would take healthcare off business' back and encourage entrepreneurship as people won't be afraid to leave their job for fear of losing their medical care. Grow the pie! Bring jobs home.
Overall the Republicans are responsible for $10 trillion of the $16 trillion on the books. Not exactly fiscally responsible huh?

As for military spending, why doesn't Obama send the troops home tomorrow? He has the power to do it. All of them from the Middle East including his pet projects in Northern Africa. His draw down was the same as Bush's. Additionally, some military spending is necessary. I could be a knee-jerker and say that liberals want to eliminate the military, but that would be a lie. We are already under 290 ships in the Navy and declining. Same goes for the other 3 branches.
Obamacare should be replaced alright. With nothing. No one should be required to pay for someone else' healthcare under threat of imprisonment just because they are too lazy to work another job. When I had cancer over a decade ago, I worked extra hours to pay off my surgery/radiation debt.
Like I said, jealousy of the rich will only take us down a road of buyer's remorse. The "free stuff" crowd is compromising our children's future by saddling them with a crushing nat'l debt.
It's past time people stopped voting for what is best for their own personal interests and voted for what is best for the long-term health of the country. But like I said, the free stuff crowd has been empowered by a man who thinks he is Robin Hood.

This is what the people want, so give it to them. Screw it, I done resisting. Where can I gets my free phone. They got a better plan than I's payin' fo'.
Holy crap, where have I been?!
Hard to beat the accuracy of your prediction, Jack. So far, it appears that even #4 is still in tact. Of course, it's still early...

The rest of the thread (predictions, etc) is quite comical.
Sounded like an excuse to me, Jack. Additionally, I see where you mentioned that you'd asked Frank what his business is, but he never answered. I guess that's the standard republican response when asked about their business...or tax plan...
Jeez, Raoul...I nearly soil't meseff when I read your posts here. Thankee fer the laughs, sir!
That's the way it's done where I work. What? Isn't that the new corporate way?
However, it's been that way here since Bush was President so I guess not ALL the blame for that can be placed on Obama, huh?
I back Jack...and Raoul, too!
Linky?

Just to add to the whole pointless clutter of the discussions in this forum, here are my fearless predictions for the (soon to be over) election:
- Jack
1. Obama will win reelection.
2. The Democratic party will retain a narrow majority in the Senate.
3. The Republican party will retain a majority in the House, but the Democratic party will pick up a small number of seats.
4. Freedom of Religion will survive in this Country, despite what Paul Ryan asserts.
Now, if I'm wrong on any of this, feel free to point it out - endlessly! 2. The Democratic party will retain a narrow majority in the Senate.
3. The Republican party will retain a majority in the House, but the Democratic party will pick up a small number of seats.
4. Freedom of Religion will survive in this Country, despite what Paul Ryan asserts.

Voter intimidation is real.
Just got back from a heavily Conservative precinct.
They confiscated my contraceptives and my bong pipe before they would let me in the booth.
I am willing to risk going into a booth and voting without a contraceptive but,
without my bong pipe? Seriously?
I WILL NOT be voting there again today!

A common infirmity with "the right" crowd, methinks.
I was struck by the contrast between the crowd at election headquarters in Chicago and the one in Boston. I think it says a lot about why Romney lost the election.
In Chicago, there was an obvious mix of white and brown faces. I honestly did not see a single dark skinned person in Boston. Surely there were SOME there, but if they were, they were well-hidden.
My point is this: I don't think the GOP has figured out how to reach the rising populations of African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Asian-Americans. They have not caught on to the fact that the Anglo-Americans (I'm one of those, by the way) are fast headed toward a "Minority-Majority" status. Anglos have position and power in this country that is disproportionate to their numbers. What's more, many Anglos embrace social processes that are designed to maintain that privileged position. It cannot go on forever. Unless the GOP comes to grips with the demographic facts of life, they will lose again and again.
Please understand, I am not accusing anyone of being "racist", but it's important to recognize that we ALL have prejudices, and that we "own" them, so that we can begin to work through them. One way to do this is to learn and respect what is important to people who's culture is different from our own. And maybe, just maybe, learn to appreciate those traits as much as we expect other cultures to embrace and respect ours.

It is not like Frank and I are friends, and I spend time on his front porch chatting with him.
Rather than go to the "standard republican response" line, maybe think he missed the question ?
- You posted it yourself, where have I been? You missed a bit right ? Think Frank deserves the same ? Nope right to the GOP bashing....
Isn't this one of the theories on how the pyramids were built ?
Look to US history, same was done back in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
- If you think back to the cause of the Labor laws introduced with the new deal, based upon what happened in NYC at the non-union company ( the introduction of current day labor laws from NYC ) Bush was not president then. Neither was his Dad ( if you are referring to Geo W not Geo H ).
