Never shot a Super Nova, I'd guess it's pretty similar to the Nova I was referring too tho.

i love my 870. every round ive put in it has gone click BOOM and i chamber a new round and it just keeps doing what it should shooting. have never had any probs with it. fired easyly over 1,000 rounds and i clean it and oil it and it keeps on working.

ive even hit a 3" target at 50 yards with a slug not bad for a 20" smooth barrel.

Mitch thats why so many people like a. .357 you can shoot a .38 at the range and to mess around but carry .357 when you use it for personal def.

i love how easy an 870 comes apart and i love how easy it is to swap barrels. cops have used 870's FOREVER so they must like it for some reason.

heres a video of me shooting my buddy's Mossberg 500 one handed.

Shooting my M1895 Nagant.

Don't take this the wrong way but 1,000 rounds isn't that many rounds and I rarely hear of people having issues with misfires in a shotgun unless it's been gone through and polished a little excessively. I'll go through 1,000 rounds in an afternoon and I'm sure many others here do the same.

I knew I'd catch grief talking smack about 870's since they are owned by so many, but I've just never understood there appeal other than the price...oh, and who cares if law enforcement have used 870's forever, a majority of them also carry those brick of a pistol they call a Glock.

Don't be haten on my Glock! I have a Glock 22 that is my everyday knock around pistol. Down at the hunting club, working outside, atv riding etc etc it is alway with me and has never let me down. I can't tell you the abuse this thing has been thru and it still functions perfectly.

I have some "finer" guns but this is my go to and in an emergency it would be the first one I'd grab.

Haha, sorry ab, I will say though, that the reason a lot of gun's such as the Glocks are so reliable is because there tolerances are so bad that they couldn't jam unless you dropped them in a pile of pee-rock.

Well mine shoots pretty tight although come to think of it I have never shot it off a rest to see just how good. But it will take down the beer can in the ditch or the snake in the woods without fail!

But for a self defense gun as long as you can hit a pie plate at 20 yards it's plenty accurate.

This is xtreme B.S. where is the B.S.flag when you need it. 1000 rounds of shotgun shells come on now be serious dude.... so your saying you shot your shotgun 200 times at 5 rounds per session??? your shoulder must be made of granite....

yes i realize they carry glocks but the 870 has been around FOREVER long before glock was even thought of for the cops to carry.

love my 870 if you dont to each his own.

The 870 has been around since 1950, but Remington has been making a real cheap version of their former shotgun in the Express model since '96. There's a big difference between the Wingmaster and the Express. The Police model is basically a Wingmaster with a parkerized finish. I don't know what model many of you have, but if it's not a Wingmaster, it's pretty much crap. If some of you are comparing the Express to other shotguns, Remington does have a better effort out there.

Oh yeah. All my guns were lost in a horrific boating accident too.

im not saying the 870 is the greatest gun out there, I just shoot better with it than anything else...and i dont see paying 1300 for a super nova or 200 for a 870 i will do the same thing with.

I will say that my buddy, brother and myself all just bought 870's recently and while out dove hunting all 3 guns were jamming like crazy. The spent shells were not ejecting. As you can imagine with flocks of dove flying over us and not being able to cycle another shell we were all pissed. My brother did some research online on what the problem was and how to fix it. We all ended up having to take a drill and brake hone to polish the chamber. Problem solved now. I paid like $150 bucks for a cheap Mossberg Maverick shotgun a long time ago that I never once had a problem with. I love my 870 now, but really Remington cmon you have a problem with a lot of these new 870's that you need to address.
