I dont need to EXPLAIN myself to anyone. I can buy them so I choose to. Would you like me to demand to know why the HELL you have a 50BMG?
That would be rude wouldnt it....of course I owned a AR50 for 2 yrs so you wont hear me actually ask such a pompus question with liberal tone as you did me.

^^^You need to check your state laws.
In NC, you pay for the item at a Class III dealer, fill out the forms, submit to ATF, have the county Sheriff sign off, set up a trust, Then you can pick it up after ATF approval. Then have the paperwirk with the can AT ALL TIMES. So some states don't let you cross state lines with them.

Make sure they are legal in your state. They are legal in 38 so far....
Then either setup a trust or go the local CLEO signoff route. You dont do both. One puts the item under your trust and you forgo the signoff and fingerprints and the other is the individual route and you have to have your local cheif signoff on it and take prints.
Once the above is done. You send the ATF 2 copies of the form4 (tax document transferring ownership from gunshop to your trust/you), a copy of your trust or if indiviual route, your fingerprint cards, and $200 check made out to the ATF.
60-90 days later one of the F4's will be mailed to your dealer with a $200 stamp affixed to it and the item is now updated in the ATF's NFA registry under your possession and you can take the item home. Its real easy if you use the trust route.
I had a local lawyer setup my trust for $195 and Ive bought 11 NFA items so far.
