ASHLEY SLING
has a couple locations in the south. In fact, they make the tow straps sold at the Charlotte 4WP. They also sell crosby hardware. So they got everything you need and you can order the capacity you want.
If you go offroading alot, spend the money to not only get yourself out but you might have to help out a friend. If you only plan for emergencies like icy roads and what not, just get some basic stuff.

dont get ordinary tow straps. Get ****** straps
ive broken 3 tow straps all in one stuck.
and on the other end. If you are doing the PULLING go to Pepboys or local parts store and buy a D-ring they make them that slides into the hitch reciever. I have one and its GREAT. I broke the hitch off the frame before even fasing the d-ring.

Well I cant afford a nice strong ****** strap, so i was thinking something like this, would this be alright?

And then add some D-rings. How do I attack the D rings to lets say my trailer hitch or a front tow hook?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm new to this. I've been off roading many times, and I have a chain, but I want better and if the chain ever broke

I hate to hijack but this is relevant. My truck doesn't have tow hooks, and its got a crappy bumper hitch so a d ring is out of the question. I would like to get tow hooks sooner or later, but if I needed to do some pulling before I got them, is there a good place I could attach the strap to on the truck (that won't hurt anythin)?

I know this will probably go unheeded since i'm a "noob" but a chain should never be used in place of a recovery strap. Not even a strap with a metal hook(s) at the end (also known as a tow strap) because if it slips or breaks, you've got yourself a flying projectile that will penetrate the cab of your truck given the chance. Or anyone standing by. Use the sewn loop straps for recovery. Also if you don't have tow hooks, but you've got a hitch on the front, depending on it's rating, you can try using http://www.4wheelparts.com/Winches-W...%2fB29312B
I've got tow hooks at the front, but use that at the back end. It's solid and one piece with the exception of the D rings. And it feels sturdy. Harbor freight has one, but it's hollow, made of a few pieces welded together, and rated at less weight.
Practice wheeling safely, it can change an off road mishap into "just another day" as opposed to an accident off road.

^^^ x2. chains are not safe. spend $30 to ensure your safety and others. a chain will go thru your windshield. i use a strap that has loops on both sides. then use a loop that goes in my recievers. its kind of like a d-ring but bigger and closed, no way to open it. i like not using any hooks makes it also safer
