Steering wheel too low
Steering wheel too low
I just got a 2005 F150 and compromised on one little detail. the top of the steering wheel masks the top part of the speedometer. Can't see if I'm doing 50 or 70 but I got a bad hunch that the highway patrol might let me know.
. Any way to raise the steering wheel? The origional paperwork on it said it had tilt steering but there's no lever or any hole where one might have been. The column looks solid. I don't really need the tilt thing, but raising it would sure help.

I looked all over the place and couldn't find anything resembling a lever under the steering wheel area. Maybe it was broken off? I'll look again as soon as it stops raining (snowing?). Sure hope you guys are right about all F150's having tilt steering.
That's only because your truck is older. All 2004+ F150s have tilt wheel no matter what model they are. If this guy doesn't have one on an '05 than it must have broken off.

Yep, it broke off. Pulled into a Ford dealership today and had it looked. Seems that it makes a sharp right turn into the steering column. Order a new one because I really, really want to see how much over the speed limit I'm doing. For a relatively small fortune, it'll be fixed in a day or two which is probably a whole lot cheaper than a ticket.
Thanks for the help and info you guys provided. I suspect I'll be back shortly with another question or two.

An even better fix is to get the Gryphon with it's digital gauges, one of which is a speedometer. I had the same problem until I got mine.
