Frustrated With Troyer's E-Fans And Their Services
It makes me wonder what is in my future.I would like to hear what happens and if it really makes up for all the crap you went through up to this point.
I am more concerned with everything that lead up to this. The issues that people have had, including myself, and the customer service that OGTerror received up to this point. Only after OG starts a thread listing his complaints is he contacted and a resolution sought. Is this really what you have to do now to get service?

The main attraction for me is the mounting set up.
Wiring is not an issue for me, but I can't fab brackets to save my caboose....
I'd almost rather use different controllers.
If the kit was offered with fans and mounting brackets only, I'd go that route.

I don't see any reason why that would not be possible.
The custom-wound Derale fans are offered separately:

The new brackets (replacing the rods) were also once offered separately, but that stopped a while ago ( bundled in the kits only now).
Someone (like you, lol) just needs to call them & see if a 'package' like this could be configured & offered: 2 fans + brackets only. TP custom-packages stuff all the time. Perhaps as another Group Buy selection?
Get on the phone, or git on the shortbus

Have yerself a fibre-filled, fun day!
Cheers

My interpretation is that OG bought them through a "shop" and had that shop install them. Said shop ordered them from Troyer, check posts 1 and 3. I didn't get anywhere that this kit was second hand. The shop was dealing with Troyer on OGs behalf and getting poor service. The fact that OG did not order them directly from Troyer shouldn't make any difference should it? Maybe I am off base here but that is how I read it.

either way, it does look like they are responding now. i'm waiting to hear their explanation for the electrical failures and the fixes.
i am not satisfied with hearing things like "they got wet"... i go offroad, that will happen. i expect everything in the truck to work if it gets "wet". my standard is to drive around in a pouring rain sans hood and the engine and all systems will work fine. if i want it to work under water, i am willing to do more work, but that's the standard.
certainly - this may come down to "what did they know and when did they know it?" reading OGTerror's posts, i get the impression he did not contact them; they contacted him... do i have that right, or did i miss something?
Two things come to mind- First, Troyer darn well knew something fairly early in this process, since they talked to somebody at his shop. Second, weeks - up to a month- to get a part? that's bs
. I'll add two more things - i quoted OGTerror above because he makes a heck of a point - for 400 bucks, this kind of problem is nonsense. it's a car running 12 volts, it ain't rocket science. if the drug addict down the street can run his rice-burner with a 4 kilo-watt speaker system all night long, why can't troyer keep a couple of fans from melting the wiring? i like what i see about the mounting design, but who designed the electronics?
regardless of troyer's claims about how rarely this happens, it happens often enough that it is a well-known phenomenon in this community. And, if every tom, **** and harry on here with a screwdriver can come up with a solution, you'd think Troyer could at least take notes....
and, as somebody else pointed out, it might be a good idea for anybody and everybody selling stuff to this community to read these forums...
wow this got epic...
his installer contacted troyer personaly . i know this cause i meet him and chatted while we waited for leo's truck. they even sent a link to this thread to troyer.. hmmm they reacted fast after that.. proofs in the pudding my friends

I'm actually glad this came out. I've dealt with Mike a number of times. He has never been anything but helpful. On 3 different occasions I have called him with questions and he has spent over 2 and a half hours of his valuable time talking to me. When people say they can't get up with him, I know there full of crap! Troyer is a good guy and he stands behind his products.

On the other hand, because you have experienced good service doesn't necessarily mean we are all a bunch of lairs.
I haven't had to contact Mr. Troyer personally because it has been the shop's job to do so, since I dealt with the shop not Mike Troyer or his staff.
As I mentioned b4 I have been at the shop when the reps. have contacted Mr. Troyer and/or staff and explained the situation we are dealing with.
We can't dismiss there haven't been an issue with the controllers in the past. I am not making this up, aside from the shop, 3 or 4 people have experienced at first hand what I've been through with the 3 sets of controllers failing on me.

While it is true that I test my truck to its limit while on and off road, I must add that all three sets of controllers failed on me, twice even before I entered a trial and once on the highway as I mentioned in previous post while I stopped to pump gas.
When I talked to Mr. Troyer he stated that his units are so tough he also builts them to be used on Trophy trucks ran by Sema and Baja racing. Hence, the bit of extreme off road I do, shouldn't affect his unit in any way.

All in all, I hope this time the controller won't fail on me. I'm paying out of my pocket over $200 to have the controllers installed inside the vehicle to prevent it from coming in contact with any moisture.
In summary, I'm not saying don't buy Troyers product, all I'm stating is my unfortunate experience with the controllers he provided, the same controller issues some or most have had in the past and present.
