Troyer eFans - ORDERED
I posted some pictures of my e-fan installation in an album: https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...tallation.html
Sorry, no during installation pictures... not really much to show.

ugh as of last thursday i believe they were waiting for a part that goes in the e-fan kit and expected to be shipping again in 2 weeks.
im getting antsy, my pulleys will be here friday. I am going to call again tomorrow and see if its still 2 weeks or not
kuruption how do you like them? any noticable difference? hows the butt dyno

I installed my Troyer fans and underdrive pullies this past weekend. Overall it took about 7 hours for both. The install couldn't have been easier. I rented a fan clutch wrench from Auto Zone and borrowed a harmonic balancer puller and air gun from a friend. The motor definately revs faster up to about 3000rpm. Also I noticed the truck does not downshift out of overdrive when accelerating while on the highway. If I tried to accelerate into the passing lane on the highway the truck used to instantly drop out of overdrive--now it doesn't. It may be that now the motor has more low end horsepower, so the trans doesn't have to downshift. Also it seems like I can hear my Airaid sucking more air but maybe it's my imagination.
I noticed, with the E-fans, that my engine is quieter during normal driving conditions. Maybe you're experiencing the same thing? Maybe the Airaid isn't necessarily pulling more air, but that you can hear it because the cluth fan isn't drowning it out?
I'm sure that's what it is. The old clutch fan was very loud and the old serpentine belt was on it's way out so that made some noise too. Now that the engine's quiet I can hear that awesome sound of the Airaid sucking some air right around 1800-2000rpm.
I just got back from having my UD pullies installed. Cost was $100 which was about 1 hour of labor plus taxes and all that jazz. This was quickly done because I had already done the E-Fan install, so they only had to reach down to pull off the pullies and such.
Honestly, there is a mild performance increase using the butt method... but nothing to write home about. I think I would feel a bigger difference if I had done both the E-Fans and Pullies at once instead of staggering them out over a few days.
Amendment: I took the truck for a drive today after I adjusted the idle speeds according to Troyer's recommendations and changed my revs/mile settings to try to get a more accurate reading on the speedo.... and I must say that mid-range power is significantly improved now w/ the pullies. I can't really notice anything accelerating from stop, but if I'm going 30-60mph and hit the gas, the truck really takes off. It put a smirk on my face.

I just drew up the diagram that jrfonte came up with... so I haven't spent a lot of time of refining it. I guess I can update it.
hey guys with pulleys, i just got mine yesterday and am reading over the instructions (which by the way on the TP website say are very detailed, i was expecting photos, are not detailed at all)
anyway i was thinking i was going to start this project today but im just worried about the harmonic balancer part.
do you guys have any advice for it? did you really use high pressure silicone sealer?

The pulley change was pretty simple. The crank pulley bolt was tough to break loose, even with air tools. When you put the new crank pulley/balancer back on, be sure to use silicone to hold the key in place and also coat the outside of the balancer/pulley neck with a light coating of oil so you don't tear up the front seal when you start the motor back up. I also tapped the balancer lightly with a rubber mallet as I tightened the bolt to make it go on easier. The water pump pulley was a no-brainer although you'll have to rent or make a tool to hold the pulley in place while loosening the clutch fan bolt. Auto Zone loans the tool for free.
hey jdig, read my other post here. i need some help
