Anyone in the Omaha Nebraska area?
- SLOW DOWN. Not just your speed, but your steering, throttle, and brake inputs. Leave early, don't get in a hurry. Getting there safely, undinged, is the goal.
- Increase your following distance, 1.5x normal is a minimum.
- Don't pull out right away if you're the first vehicle in line at a light. Let the guy who was going too fast to stop slide through the intersection first. (I've seen this happen, more than once.)
- On that note, when you stop at a light, particularly headed downhill, check the mirror to see how hard you're going to get hit from behind. Be ready to take evasive action. Driving through a light to avoid being hit probably won't get you a ticket. Cops will be busy anyway with all the fender benders. (I've done both, been hit once, driven through a light at least once since.)
- Be ready to take the curb/sidewalk when the guy with the rear-wheel drive spins out of control down the middle of the street. (Freakin' high-school kids in their Camaros. Took the curb with my Dad's Town Car, sounded like hell, but no damage.)
- Assuming you have 4WD, keep in mind you still only have 4WS. (4-Wheel-Stop) Curbs can be your friend if you KNOW you won't be able to stop. The extra drag from the piled up snow can slow you down real quick. Keep in mind the guy behind you in that case, as he might not be as quick, but at least it's not your fault at that point.
That's the best advice I can think of, right off the top of my head.
Yea that pretty much sums it it!! Good write-up and excellent advice!
It's exactly right - just slow down....increase your following distance because your braking distance is going to be doubled if not more. Don't drive like an idot.
Or even better yet - don't drive if you don't have too!!! Stay at home in bad weather!

I put 200 lbs of sand tubes in my bed this year. Have them wedged behind the wheel wells with some old 2x4's to keep them from sliding around. I got tired of spinning my RR tire at stop signs when there was just a little slush or whatever on the ground. Not sure just how much it helps, I think my AAL probably keeps it the sand from working as much as it would would with stock leaf springs. This time last year, I was drift bustin' people to work. No fun yet this year!
Hope everyone has safe travels and a Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all!
Hope everyone is having a good holiday, I treated my truck to some new rubber this week! Went with the 275/60/20 Cooper Zeon LTZ. Really like them so far and got them for $700 mounted and balanced! Went through a fair amount of snow up here in Northwest Iowa and had no trouble.

Yeah those look like very nice tires!! I have Cooper tires on my 250 and love them. I wish I could get cooper tires through work but American Tire Distributors don't carry them and they aren't a sponsored tire by Ford so I'm not too familiar with all of their lineup. But those look really nice! Aggressive but not overly aggressive! Good find!
hey all, hopefully everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!! I heard you guys are getting hit with some snow?! I Cannot wait to come back in Feb!! hopefully there is plenty of snow still on the ground!
